Hi,

you are using a beta version of Hijackthis!!!

We need to update your version of Hijackthis to the latest release.
Please find and delete the Hijackthis.exe you already have installed.

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HijackThis.
Save HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
Double click on the HJTInstall.exe icon to start the program.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
After the final dialogue box it will launch HijackThis.

Click on the scan button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Save the log, and post me it in your next reply. Also, please tell me what your problem is.

Regards,

Rosty.

Hi, I downloaded the v2.02 and ran a new scan. The problem is, for the last few weeks my computer has been getting slower, now every time i restart, cup is 100% for at least 5 minutes. Whenever I open a browser, applications, or even just a notepad file- cpu shoots up to 100% and my computer will freeze up for a few min then just start running fine. AVG doesn't run on startup anymore, and I can't figure out why or how to get it to work again, also avg has found three Trojans in the last few weeks...

Hi again,

thanks for the new log!!

I have a question. Did you changed something yourself in the log? Because the next part is looking strange to me:

N3 - Netscape 7: # Mozilla User Preferences

/* Do not edit this file.
*
* If you make changes to this file while the browser is running,
* the changes will be overwritten when the browser exits.
*
* To make a manual change to preferences, you can visit the URL about:config
* For more information, see http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html#prefs
*/

user_pref("aim.session.firsttime", false);
user_pref("browser.activation.checkedNNFlag", true);
user_pref("browser.bookmarks.added_static_root", true);
user_pref("browser.search.defaultengine", "http://www.google.com/");
user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone", "rv:1.7.2");
user_pref("browser.tabs.forceHide", true);
user_pref("dom.disable_open_during_load", true);
user_pref("intl.charsetmenu.browser.cache", "us-ascii, KOI8-R, windows-1252, ISO-8859-15, UTF-8");
user_pref("ldap_2.prefs_migrated", true);
user_pref("mailnews.global_html_domains.version", 2);
user_pref("mailnews.html_domains", "netscape.net,netscape.com,aol.com,cs.com,yahoo.c
Please let me know.

For now,

Please disable Windows Defender Real Time Protection as it may interfere with the fix. To disable Windows Defender:

Open Windows Defender
Click Tools
Click General Settings
Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
Click Save
Close Windows Defender
Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.

Next,
Open HijackThis.
Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
Look under System tools.
Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
Click on the Save list... button.
It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
Close HijackThis

Please, re-open HijackThis, click do a scan only and place a check next to the follwoing entries:

Close all other windows and browsers, except hijackThis, and click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan (Full scan is optional. According to the program's creator Quick Scan will do just fine.).
Click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

If Malware is found...
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
Please save it to your desktop.

NOTE: Logs can be retrieved at a later date from the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware main screen:

Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
Click the Logs tab.
Double-click log-mm.dd.yyyy [xxxxxx].txt.

In your next reply, please include:
-The log from Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
- The uninstall list
- A new HijackThis log

I fixed those entries, rebooted, then downloaded Malwarebytes as instructed, and ran a full system scan. My computer froze the first time and I had to manually turn it off. The second time went through, but it took forever, It found three problems, which I fixed, and here is the log for that:

Hi,

did some other user changed the Mozilla User Preferences?
Can you ask it please and let me know.

I asked , and no one has changed anything. When I actually looked into the user preferences, I saw that they aren't anything I, or anyone else who uses this computer, would even know how to change. So I did some reading and I think I know what may have caused the change. I read somewhere online that mcafee screws with mozilla user pref. Several months ago, when we signed up with comcast cable internet, they offered mcafee anti-virus for signing up with them. So I was stupid and installed it because they made it sound better than AVG 7 which is what i was using at the time. The next time my dad visited me, he told me I should uninstall the mcafee, then system restore to a previous date before I downloaded mcafee. I uninstalled it, but all my restore dates mysteriously vanished, so I didn't restore. Therefore, I downloaded avg 7.5 which has never opened on startup. This was a while ago, but my computer has been strange and slow ever since. Also, the IE browser always redirects even after I change it to blank page, within a day or so, it ends up redirecting again. So frustrating...
hope that helps you...
thanks,
Anastasia

Hi,

can you please uninstall Mozilla, reboot and re-install it?
After re-install, post a new HijackThis log.
