I have a fresh in stall of Vista (ack) running Opera. SpyBot is not able to immunize the cookies. I know that the location has changed so maybe this relates. Here is forum post on this same subject over at Opera:

hello,

with the beta version of Opera 9.5 the file format for the cookie immunization within Opera was changed. Due to this Spybot S&D currently cannot immunize Opera 9.5 beta cookies. Adjustments are in work and we will give word when the release is ready.

I am running XP and I also have this problem. Spybot cannot immunize 191 Opera cookies. This happened yesterday when I upgraded Opera to version 9.50. (9.50 is not a beta.)

Immunization of Opera 9.5 cookies works in the Spybot-S&D 1.6, beta 1 (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=29109) release and should work in Spybot-S&D 1.6, beta 2 (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=29696) just released today.

Thanks for the tip. But I am a bit wary of beta versions.
Can we expect a final S&D 1.6 within a few months?

Maybe immunizing Opera against cookies is less important than immunizing IE. Opera deletes cookies automatically when the browser is closed. I believe being a tracking cookie in Opera is somewhat difficult. :police:

If you read the Spybot-S&D 1.6, beta 1 (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=29109) thread I pointed to, I think that you would find that very few problems have been encountered and that the scan times are greatly reduced. But feel free to make up your own mind.

Maybe this is wishful thinking, however, from Post #1 (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=199393&postcount=1) in that same reference:

Q: When will you release a final version of 1.6?
A: U.S. Independence Day (4th of July) would be nice. Provided that there's enough feedback and no bigger problems appearing.

Well, the cookies are being properly immunized again. However, there is a category of plugins for Opera (43 of them) remaining unprotected.

Any ideas here?

Same is happening for me - I can immunize everything except those pesky 43 Opera plugins.

I have confirmed this behaviour on all three of my Windows machines: 2 XP sp3 machines and one Server 2003 machine.

Hello,

And you have upgraded to the new Spybot 1.6 yet?
Are the Opera items cookies and software plugins that can't be immunized?

Please try to "Undo" the Immunisation. Now the bad products are allowed.
Then "Immunize" again. This should solve the problem for now.

Another thing though is that immunization only works properly while your browser is closed, since otherwise your browser will overwrite immunization from time to time from the settings it loaded when it was started.

I am still unable to Immunize Opera plugins.

When I Undo the Opera Immunize, those 43 plugins show as protected,
then go back to showing unprotected when I reImmunize Opera.

Ok, I have gone through the above suggestion and run Undo for immunization. Undo will move everything to Unprotected while moving Opera's 43 Plugins to Protected. You can get SpyBot to display Opera's Plugins as Unprotected at this point by choosing Help --> About and then clicking on the Immunize button again.

However, when you run immunization the 43 Opera Plugins remain Unprotected. If you leave off the Help --> About step (and thus leave the 43 plugins as Protected), when you run immunization all other categories move to Protected and the 43 Opera plugins move back to Unprotected.

I am running Spybot 1.6.1 on 2 XP sp3 machines and a Server 2003 machine. They all have this odd behaviour. (One of the XP machines actually shows 2 lines of Opera Plugins--43 each--with one Protected and the other Unprotected.)

Opera 9.52 and Spybot is fully up to date.

I used to have same problems with latest Opera on XP SP3.

Now, with latest Spybot, everything works.
Well, almost... I managed to immunize everything so there are 0 items left, but after that, when I opened Opera, I found that I'm logged out everywhere.
However, it didn't delete all my cookies, they're still there.

Any idea what happened?

Hello,

I too have had the same trouble, I performed the undo as stated above, then I unchecked the Opera plugin button then reimmunised. Everything is now showing as protected.

Everything WAS showing as protected. Within a few minutes the 43 plugins have now reverted back to unprotected. Back to the drawing board...

Cheers.

Hello,

There seems to be a problem with one of Operas latest updates.

Please have a look at this link in our forum: http://forums.spybot.info/project.php?issueid=279

We are working on this issue and will be reporting any news here.

Aha! For some time now, I have had problems with Opera and forums. Opera does not remember my logins, and also forgets all my settings I do on sites (cookie controlled settings).

Opera have been more or less unusable on many sites because of this. I was forced back to IE on several sites.

I never suspected Spybot caused this behaviour!

I will try to unprotect Opera cookies in Spybot and see if that helps.
Thank you ketas for bringing this up. :)

Nothing seems to be happening over there. Is this really being addressed?

I'm running XP on 2 different machines, too. One shows:
"Administrator (Plugins) 43 Unprotected"
and
"Administrator (Plugins) 43 Protected"

I saw the comment that Opera dumps cookies on close, but it's still disconcerting to see the "Unprotected."

After reading all the post regarding Opera x.y.z , it seem logical to admit that the problem is never gonna be solve. Looking at the dates of all the post, it is really lingering-on.

btw; anyone knows how to get rid of "Gina worm" in Vista (it is a registry key), even if gina was meant for NT only?

I have another one also, this one is called LoonyToony (or something like it). Again, it is a registry key. Any help on that too?

Peace
Ghis

I'll take the total lack of response as a no.

This is rather pitiful. How complicated can this matter possibly be? Do you need help troubleshooting the issue?

I am running three Windows machines with this problem. I have seen many others. This is being completely ignored? The greatest value Spybot offers is its immunization and currently it's broken.

jamesisin:

Have you tried the SpybotSD.exe 1.6.1.37 beta (Downloads - SpybotSD.exe (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=37))?

According to redlabour (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=50978) in Opera plugin immunization fails on missing file (http://forums.spybot.info/project.php?issueid=279) it works.

I used to have this problem. 43 Opera cookies refused to immunize.

I had another problem also. When I fixed the latter problem, the cookie immunizing began to work properly.

What I did you can read here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=261435&postcount#5

I did not install the latest beta.

SpyBot latest version doesn't immunize winantispyware2008.com cookie,it always comes back after immunisation.

Furthermore it deletes cookies that are not from harmfull sites.
Is this fixed in the latest beta,or should i wait for the final version.

Opera 9.62

Latest update (17-12-2008) fixed small problem with winantispyware2008 cookie.
But it still does remove cookies that comes from not harmfull sites.

I was able to get rid of this issue by using Revo Uninstaller to completely remove all traces of Opera and Spybot and then re-installing them both (latest versions--Opera and then Spybot).

Revo Uninstaller is a good tool, in case anyone is interested in adding to their toolbox.
