Hi,
My pc has recently been infected with some spyware/adware which is really irratating
Every 30min or so there is a warning sign in my taskbar and then a message appears saying that spyware has been detected on my security system and I need to follow the link to fix the problem. Unsurprizingly, this link merely leads to a website that instructs to purchase pc-cleaner and pc-antiSpyWare.
As a result, I have been searching the internet for possible solutions to remove this irratation. I have done the following thus far:
- Scanned pc with the latest version of mcAfee anti-virus (found nothing)
- Installed and ran Smitfraudfix
Unfortunately none of these removed my original problem. The message still pops up every 30min and requests that I purchase these products to fix my problem.
So then I continued my search, and eventually stumbled upon Spybot - search and destroy which had many good reviews on fixing problems similar to the one I am struggling with. However, I seem to be having some issues with the program: it manages to find a list of about 20 errors, but as soon as I click "fix problems found" spybot freezes. I have tried reinstalling and rerunning spybot (3times), searching for updates, deleting temp files and cookies, and ticking BrowserHelperObject in settings(as suggested by a prev post), but spybot still freezes each time I try to fix problems.
Here is a list of the errors which spybot finds:
-MediaUpdate
-FunWeb
-FunWebProducts
-Microsoft.Windows.Security.InternetExplorer
-Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.TaskManager
-NousTech.UltimateFakeSecurityCenter
-SpySheriff
-Virtumonde
-Win32.agent.ac
-DoubleClick
-ClickBank
(BTW I am running windows XP)
Please help...I would really appreciate any advice afforded to me.
Thanks
