First, thanks for the recent help cleaning up my daughter's computer. We both really appreciate it!

My own computer is now acting buggy. Specifically, the only way I can get Internet Explorer to load is by clicking on an e-mail link. And no matter what I do, there will only ever be one IE window open at a time. There are no other symptoms at all.

I have run Ad-Aware and Spybot regularly on this machine for a long time, and they have routinely found and removed things. Neither of them is currently finding anything however. I have also run Registry Repair, which cleaned up some stuff, but did not fix the IE problem.

I'm wondering if you would take a look at the HJT log from today, and tell me if you see anything. I don't know whether this is a malware problem, or something caused by registry corruption--possibly due to malware removal in the past.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I don't see anything in the log that should be causing this problem. Take a look in these links, especially the first one and see if anything helps:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/IEtopten.mspx
http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/runbetter.htm
http://www.linkgrinder.com/tutorials/10_Easy_Steps_to_Speed_Up_Your_Comp_24946_Computers_article.html

I will remove what I see, if this and the information above does not help and you want me to run some scans looking for malware that may not be showing in the log, let me know. Are you receiving any specific error messages? If so post them "word for word".

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://fr.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie/...ch/search.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://fr.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie/...ch/search.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

If you don't have a good cleaner, use this one with these instuctions:
Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, include any comments you think I should have.

Thanks...pskelley
