Hi prosc

All viruses are in system restore.

I give you later instructions how to empty it.

This is not a virus:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\popcaploader.dll Infected: not-a-virus:Downloader.Win32.PopCap.b skipped

Do you have some other concerns?

Thanks Shaba,

I am freaked out because the Banker virus showed up twice, Norton caught some dlntech[1].htm virus which I can't find any info on and it keeps showing up on every scan (I don't think it could delete it, so it quarantined it).

When I did my first Kaspersky scan, it came up with 6 virus, 11 infected objects, second time it lost some infected objects (they were back to back scans - I had to redo because the save as button didn't appear).

When I used Google about a week ago, a scroll bar with box appeared on the top left - I could type in it. It kept appearing and disappearing and was definitely not part of the Google homepage.

Now my "Check for Updates" balloon is at the top left of my screen when my icon is at the bottom left where the clock is located.

I am now using Firefox because of the scare, do you think it's safer than IE7? I am worried about the keyloggers trying to get ids ans passwords - I have already gotten fake bank emails which I never responded to, just deleted.

Thanks again!

Hi

"I am freaked out because the Banker virus showed up twice, Norton caught some dlntech[1].htm virus which I can't find any info on and it keeps showing up on every scan (I don't think it could delete it, so it quarantined it)."

That is a temporary internet file and likely a false positive.

"Now my "Check for Updates" balloon is at the top left of my screen when my icon is at the bottom left where the clock is located."

Which program you mean here?

"I am now using Firefox because of the scare, do you think it's safer than IE7? I am worried about the keyloggers trying to get ids ans passwords - I have already gotten fake bank emails which I never responded to, just deleted."

Yes it is safer.

Hi Shaba,

""Now my "Check for Updates" balloon is at the top left of my screen when my icon is at the bottom left where the clock is located."

Which program you mean here?"

----It is the Microsoft Automatic windows update program - when it finds new updates, it notifies you with a balloon (always above the little yellow icon near the clock at bottom right). Some people let the updates download automatically, but I don't like that.

I just had a problem tonight where my computer couldn't recognize my 2 dvds - error code 39. I looked it up on the net and followed the registry deletions and it seems to have resolved the problem. Somehow the registry was corrupted? I guess it wasn't a virus, though I'm not sure...

Is there another Spybot tool like RunAlyzer, RegAlyzer, or FileAlyser that I should be using?

Thanks again for your help - I look forward to your input!!!

Hi

I see.

I don't why that balloon is there but it's not malware related thing anyway.

"

Do you use CCleaner or similar to keep your registry in shape?

"Is there another Spybot tool like RunAlyzer, RegAlyzer, or FileAlyser that I should be using?"

Well those are not must tools to use.

If it has been five days or more since your last post, and the helper assisting you posted a response to that post to which you did not reply, your topic will not be reopened. At that point, if you still require help, please start a new topic and include a fresh HijackThis log and a link to your previous thread.

If it has been less than five days since your last response and you need the thread re-opened, please send a private message (pm). A valid, working link to the closed topic is required.

Everyone else please begin a New Topic.
