Cannot Install AV Software
Hoping you guys can help, rather like Obi Wan, you are my only hope.
I've been doing a fresh install on my GF's PC and have installed windows XP, and one at a time I have done the various updates for XP via the windows update centre. I have also installed several other pieces of software on the machine. Some of the updates would not install and although downloaded the update console would tell me I had new updates waiting to install, the updates appeared to repeat several times. I'm not being asked for them now though
The computer will also not play DVD's and seems to have some hardware issues that you would simply expect XP to easily handle, E.G no sound driver can be found (although I have found this) and issues with the wireless driver.
I initially had some RAM issues so I have tried removing one block of RAM at a time and the system no longer crashes completely.
I cannot install any Antivirus software on here, I got McAffee on, but only the Firewall, the AV would not fully install, tried ZoneAlarm and ran out of programs. I have even downloaded a free AVG anti virus program, which again, although installed, will not work. The SpyBot program you recommend also has the same problem. In all cases I receive a message that a certain file is corrupt, that the system has recover from a serious error or just straight forward program crashes for which I am able to send a log file. Whatever AV programs I try to use, I get the same problem, it opens and bins me straight out.
I cannot carry out your spybot (even in safemode) and I have also tried limiting my startup files to no avail. I was able to do a Kaspersky scan and a Hijack this which are both included below. Hope you can help

Please help me, I suspect something has got on there while I was unprotected or some software has had a nice trojan. I have uninstalled each AV program using add/remove programs before I installed the next one. I have also tried CCleaner.

Please help me, I suspect something has got on there while I was unprotected or some software has had a nice trojan. I have uninstalled each AV program using add/remove programs before I installed the next one. I have also tried CCleaner.
