Jave a trojan horse downloader.obfuskated problem

Hi guys, i am having a prob getting rid of the above stated trojan.

When my computer reboots AVG picks up this virus and then 'cleans' it (There is another virus as well called virtumone that also keeps popping up). BUT when i restart my comp the same viruses appear all over again.

I have used CCleaner, spybot, ATF cleaner and AVG to try and find the root of the prob (As well as hijack this). I use mainly firefox to browse, but sometimes i use IE7.

You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.

Carry it Easy Launcher <<< you know this service?

Nothing showing in the KOS report, let's try this.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

5) Download ResetTeaTimer.bat

Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat
to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).

6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

7) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ruvcbgfe\ <<< delete that folder and contents

8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart and post a new HJT log and let me know if that takes care of the problem.

Thanks for the reply, in reply to the various steps that you listed in your reply

Carry it easy launcher is a program that came with a new memory stick that i bought from a compputer shop - it should be safe right?

Step1> When i looked into this all these steps were already done.

Step2> completed

Step3> installed java 6 update 6 - will get the update 10 a bit later

Step4> Done

Step5> Did, when the program ran, right at the top it said that spybot and teatimer must be closed (even though it was) and after that it said exit, is this correct?.

Step 6> done

Step7> I couldnt delete this as it kept saying access denied? How can i bypass this and then delete it?.

Step 8>Done

Since i couldnt delete this and this looks like it could be the instal file for that trojan, i deleted the .exe from the end of the file name so that it couldnt load.

Since my last post i have finally been able to delete that ruvbce.exe file that i couldnt earlier and i also deleted that carry it easy launcher (just in case).

I have restarted my comp a couple of times and that AVG threat warning for trojan horse dowloader.obfuskated has not come up again at all. After running both AVG and spybot, the consensus is that the computer is clean.

ALso after running spybot lately the virtumone virus does not get picked up. Is it possible that it was cleaned up this easily?.

Thanks guys for all you help and i really appreciate the time taken to help me out. BUT i wont beleive that the computer is clean until u guys say it is. So here is my latest HJT file.

I did another on line scan and this is the result. It was weird but while i was working and that was scanning another AVG alert came up for that trojan downloader. How is that possible?.

Well, listen up...something was not followed in the directions? The bad trojan is still on the computer. I do not need to know what you do, only if you can not do something in the instructions. Please read and follow these directions exactly as posted.

1) Make sure all files and folders are still visible.

2) Follow the directions in this link to "Kill Process" on the trojan.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [Go41CNVkOa] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ruvcbgfe\lorklwjc.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ruvcbgfe\ <<< delete that folder and the contents

Empty the Recycle Bin

Restart and post a new HJT log with your feedback.

Sounds good, you HJT log looks clean of malware:bigthumb:
No reason to run another KOS since the first one was clean, if you want another opinion, use this one:

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Hi there, i have terrible news!

When i got back to work this morning i checked my AVG (it does a normal scan everyevening) and it came up clean. Then i checked the virus vault out of ineterst and our friend is sitting in there (i cleaned it out yesterday)

Its address is C:\System Volume Information\_restore{6A74F5E8-AC99-470A-A8F1-301FA37CC42A}\RP3\A0000306.exe.

I have never noticed this file before, is it suposed to be there? I tried to get in but but access was denied.

What should i do?

Here are detailed instructions for cleaning System Restore if needed:
Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot

Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Hi there, i have flushed out the back up files and that seems to have worked.

I ran Malwaresbytes last night as well as AVG and spybot. The only one to pick up a problem was malwarebytes and it picked up something called Trojan.Agent.

Is this a problem, malwaresbytes said it sucessfully quarantined and deleted it. Is this the end of it.
