Hello all,
Several weeks ago i installed Spybot on a computer running ME with no problems until yesterday....upon opening IE there was a notification of a registry change which i denied.
Since then, everytime the IE is opened the same page keeps loading even though there is a little pop-up in the corner stating that it is on the "blacklist"...i don't know what i am doing wrong-should i have allowed the change or is it a virus or something equally nasty?
To me it looks like a legitimate page that is trying to load but i don't understand why it keeps loading when i thought i had stopped it...It's a Microsoft (the page) download for IE7 which i can't use anyway because of the system being ME but having read all the way down the page it states that anyway...I thought that maybe my homepage just needed resetting but it has'nt been altered and then i altered the "update preferences" just in case but they stopped supporting ME system in 2006 so there are never any updates now anyway.... So now i don't know what to do.....please advise-nothing too complicated though as i'm not too hot on anything remotely technical...Thanks!

Hello,

That is the resident TeaTimer, the realtime protection of Spybot-S&D.

Please read this information about TeaTimer:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/33.html
and http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/34.html
If you surf the web and without any user interaction the teatimer pops up and warns about a registry change it is better to "deny", but if you install something by yourself it is OK to "allow" the change.
The tutorial (point 8) on our homepage should also help explaining:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/tutorial/index.html

So if you want to undo your change please right-click the Resident icon in the system tray "Spybot S&D resident" and select "Settings". There you will find 4 lists for remembered decisions (allowed/denied processes and registry changes). In order to remove an entry just click on the cross next to it. TeaTimer will then "forget" this decision and you will be asked again the next time.

Best regards
Sandra
