Hello there,
I noticed that my computer was acting strange. My ZoneAlarm stopped working and my Homepage was changed. After doing multiple spybot scans, i got the following spy remaining there:
Fake MSN 8 Beta.
I am Using Windows XP.
I tried running HIJACKTHIS but it keeps turning off. I tried to download another copy but the browser window turned off. I got a copy on another computer and transfered it but still it kept turning off.
Attached is a SpyBot log. Please review it and give feedback…

Welcome to the forum
Put your unzipped Hiajckthis in a folder of its own such as C:\antispyware
then rightclick on it choosse rename and rename it to HJT.exe, now try to run it, any luck ?

No luck with the "solution" but i have asked around and HijackThis should work in safe mode. I am going to do that and send a report. Please tell me if this Log will be useful.

Strange thing just happened,
I went to go to safemode but it wouldn't start up. So i went back to windows normal mode and i got a bunch of errors regarding crss.exe not starting up. After that, everything went back to normal and my firewall started up. I also remember that when i got infected, there was an error involving crss.exe.
I will restart again and tell you what ahppened.

Please download MsnVirRem http://www.portalsentry.com/msnvirrem.htm
(Either zip or self extracting .exe), and save it to your desktop. Once in place, right click the zip file (or double click the exe), and extract the files to your desktop. It will create another folder called MsnVirRem DO NOT RUN ANYTHING IN IT YET
Get the exe the zizps are currently empty
Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.
In the new MsnVirRem folder, that you should have on your desktop, double click MsnVir.bat and let it run its course. A DOS window should pop up, Let it run until it disappears. It will take time to scan your machine.
After it disappears, reboot back into normal mode, and post a fresh HijackThis Log.

Put in place a good hosts file
