I have just installed Spybot 1.5.2.20 fresh install without update.
Run programme and updated, then scannned system.
Scan seems to stop at about 80% on 121267/149078 Win32.qhost.ake.
I can stop the scan and close Spybot. Nothing stops responding.
I have let it run for over 3 hours.
No download directories listed.
Tried shutdown Spybot and restart, tried shutdown PC then restart, went to advanced-Settings-Ignore products and ticked two instances Win32.qhost.ake.
Scan completes. Remove ticks, scan stalls.
Have scanned with AVG, Adaware, both updated with latest definitions. have done online scan with Trend Housecall. Just found the usual cookies etc.
No obvious problems on PC. I may be wrong but I don't suspect an infection although I guess this is possible.

Win xp Pro SP2 fully updated
Core2 duo 2.66
2Gb
Geforce 8600 GT 512Mb
2x 250Gb HDD 1 SATA, 1PATA (System drive is SATA)

If any more info is required please let me know and I'll post it.

Hello,

Please also do the following:
Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:

* Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
* Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
* Click the "Delete Cookies" button
* Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
* When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content",
click OK

Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have
Firefox installed):

* Go to Tools > Options.
* Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
* Click the Clear button located to the right of each option
(History, Cookies, Cache).
* Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing
by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the
information.

Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin

* Go to start > run and type: *cleanmgr* and click ok.
* Let it scan your system for files to remove.
* Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle
Bin are the only things checked.
* Press OK to remove them.

Best regards

Hi spybotsandra
Thanks for the reply, sorry I never got back here sooner. I seem already to have sorted out the problem. I ran ATF-cleaner and reran spybot. It finished in about 15 to 20 minutes without any problems.
Once again thanks and keep up the good work. It would be nice to not need forums like this but I guess thats just not going to happen. Too many people out there with nothing better to do than cyber vandalism.

Cheers
