View Full Version : Smitfraud and Command Service... tragic.
Unfortunately when I returned home one day my boyfriend brought to my attention that he had downloaded a corrupted file from Limewire, and it had given my computer a virus.
I ran Spybot S&D and the only things that don't seem to fix are Command Service and Smitfraud-C.Coreservice.
I'm not really sure what I need to do. The computer has gotten monstrously worse. It started up with a bright blue screen one day as my desktop background, and proceeds to show little bugs eating away at my computer as a screensaver, but there isn't a screensaver set on my settings, so I don't even know what to do. :(

Hello. Unfortunately, from your descriptions... your computer is infected with a trojan/malware. The Smitfraud trojan is persistent to remove... but you may request help at the malware forums. Read this link about P2P programs. And btw, what you say about the bright blue screen was the so called, "Blue Screen of Death".

Btw, before you request help in the forums... Can you run a malware and virus scan. Just another question. Are you using a firewall? Ant-virus? What Windows Operating System are you using? Thanks.

What kind of malware/virus scan should i try to use? I've downloaded adAware2007 and I'm going to try and run that, and run spybot again, and then if those work for me I'm going to try to run TrendMicro Housecall. I had a Windows Firewall set up, but now it's turned off and I'm unable to access my settings to it due to an "unidentified problem". Ah... I don't know if i have an anti-virus on it. It's a Windows XP... I'm not really sure what year. I've had hijackThis on there, and I didn't know if I needed to send in a log or where??

Do not concern yourself with other scans at this time.
