Surf Sidekick 3, Command Service, VCMain

Hi there

I am currently littered with Malware, that is driving me insane.
I stupidly opened an unknown exe file :( and I now have the above mentioned wares along with god knows what else. I have run spybot and ad aware but they can't remove them.

I have read other posts on this but do not want to attempt anything without some help.

Hi

You have multiple infections...

First please go to ADD/REMOVE programs in the Control Panel and uninstall surfsidekick ... allow the computer to reboot when prompted to do so ...

Then...

Download http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe by ShadowWar.

1. Save the file to your desktop

2. Double click l2mfix.exe

3. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts

4. Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop

5. Double click l2mfix.bat

6. Select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter

7. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.

8. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

The following is the log of the l2mfix
Surfsidekick was removed eventually, all the automatic tools for look2me have not been sucessful and the machine has BSOD'd a few times when I have tried these tools. I'm not sure if another piece of software isn't reinstalling look2me.

all the automatic tools for look2me have not been sucessful and the machine has BSOD'd a few times when I have tried these tools. I'm not sure if another piece of software isn't reinstalling look2me.

Please do this and let me know if you have any problems with it...

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

1. From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat

2. Select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter

3. Press any key to reboot your computer.

4. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.

5. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

I was trying some other look2me removals tools without success but finally running look2me destroyer seemd to do the trick.

I have also installed firefox and ewido as a couple of measures to prevent further infection.

That is, along with not stupidly opening exe files :o
