I have pop-ups from winfix.com coming up randomly. Doesn't happen all the time but I need to get rid of it. Can you help? I hope I have posted this in the right place.:scratch: :

When I go through the steps do I need to scan with each of the selections you sent under each step number or do I just use one of them? I understand the rest I think. :scratch:

tashi has written this tutorial very well, you just need to read it.
1) Run an on-line Anti Virus scan. (which in one)
2) Run a Spybot-S&D scan. (which is Spybot)
3) Posting your HiJackThis log here: (which is post one HJT log)

Hello and thanks for posting your information. This is the Vundo trojan, and we need to remove it first. Please follow these directions carefully.
Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix
Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Post the logs bolded above in this same thread. We will have more to do.

OK, good job killing that nasty trojan:bigthumb: we have a little more work to do to get you good and clean. First some information:

While they are optional, I suggest you remove them. Pass over the instuctions if you prefer not to do so.
1) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall any Viewpoint that you see.
2) ewido scan:
Please download Ewido Security Suite (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/) it is a trial version of the program.
Install ewido security suite
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click update
Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")
3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.
Restart the computer and post the ewido scan results, a new HJT log and your comments. You should be good to go if all is running well.

You can delete that folder, if you every need Killbox again it is best to download it fresh at that time.
2) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Earthlink\6.0\frogpinscher@earthlink.net\Cookies\owner@2o7[1].txt Empty the folder, don't delete it.
I have never used Earthlink, but it appears it uses IE 6.0 as a browser. You need to navigate there and delete all cookies you are storing. These links may work, I am not sure because Earthlink may have modifications I am unaware of:

3) Appears this is IE not running with Earthlink?
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Cookies\ <<<clean out that cookies folder along with routine maintenance.
4) ewido is scanning the next program as Adware.BHO and could not clean them. Unless you know this is safe I would delete this:
C:\Program Files\SpongeBob SquarePants Obstacle Odyssey\bfgt_silent_en.exe/nickarcade.dll
5) ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
With the exception of the last item ewido cleaned all it found. Your HJT log is also clean.

System Restore does not know good from bad, it backs up everything. In case some of the infection got into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, restart your computer and turn it back on.
