Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

If you still have problems I will do my best to help. I have a lot of questions about this log, I am not sure what is causing your issues and will need to do some searching to find out, before we start.
I suggest you stay offline except when troubleshooting, you have a downloader and it will download more junk:
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Agent.plz

1) C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe <<< Grisoft has discontinued this program, uninstall it in Add Remove program:
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-spyware-and-anti-rootkit

2) C:\Program Files\a-squared Anti-Dialer\ <<< if this is only a trial uninstall it

3) C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.0\ <<< if this is only a trial uninstall it

4) C:\Program Files\PKR\pkrpal.exe <<< tell me what this is, did you install it?
C:\Program Files\PKR\pkr.exe ------> Monitor.Win32.PKRPoker.a
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Monitor.Win32.PKRPoker.a&btnG=Search

5) HJT is not safe on the Desktop without a folder, logs and backups can get deleted. If you must run from there, create a new folder, call it HJT and more the HJT.exe and log that is there into that folder.
or you can follow these directions to put it where it should be:
Download Trend Micro Hijack This™
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/hijackthis/HJTInstall.exe
Doubleclick the HJTInstall.exe to start it.
By default it will install HijackThis in the Program Files\Trendmicro folder and create a desktop shortcut.
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

Correct the issues I mentioned and then post a new HJT log, include information about the symptoms and any error messages "word for word",

Thanks

sorry for slow reply, my internet connection has not been working for 3 days, i dont think this is related to a virus because it came back on after i phoned my service provider & they had logged it as a fault with telecom.

the main problems i am experiencing are: pc turns itself off during scanning process, this happens 90% of the time i do a scan using any antispyware.

& pc is very very slow to respond to anything i do.

regarding your 5 points,

1)
i have tried to uninstall avg however i get this error message: "the installer you
are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. this could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus. it may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECCOMMENDED)"

2)
a-squared Anti-Dialer has been uninstalled

3)
trojanhunter 5.0 has been uninstalled

4)
pkrpal is a program that reminds me when poker tournaments are starting, yes
i installed it & it works with the pkr application @ www.pkr.com

5)

"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

Please read those directions again, when they are not followed, that only slows us, see this:

Note: In notepad under Format, uncheck "Word Wrap" Produce all HJT logs like this, single spaced.
single-spaced - (of type or print) not having a blank space between lines
It is preferable, and the log easier to read, if you do not use the [code] or [php] options..

Post a new HijackThis log once you have turned off word wrap.

AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 <<< we will try to remove that a bit later, normally I would suggest installing it again and uninstalling it, but installation is no longer available.

Thanks

Thanks for the new log, let's give this a try and it is a lot of instructions. In no way do I intend for you to rush through instructions, that is when mistakes happen. Read and carefully execute these instructions.

1) As far as I can see you have no Antivirus program running on the computer. Many antispyware prograns (which do not do the AV job)? If this is the case you need to install one, here are three to choose from that are free, install only one.
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
http://www.free-av.com/

2) O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows Installer] C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\dtsc\10805.exe <<< I need to know what that file is, use this scan:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and post the scan results in your next post.

3)
the main problems i am experiencing are: pc turns itself off during scanning process, this happens 90% of the time i do a scan using any antispyware.
Do you get an error message from Windows when this happens?
It's your computer but for starters I would like to see you get back to only Windows Defender and SpywareGuard besides your antivirus program and firewall. It may be conflictions between the powerful antispyware programs causing your issues and we can't be sure unless we remove them.
Once you are running only WD and SG and the computer is running right, I would like to see you add (free) if you do not have them, SpywareBlaster and a good hosts file. Make sure we cover that before we finish.

4) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

5) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

6) Windows Defender (may block our changes)
Click on "Tools"
Click on "General Settings"
Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
Uncheck "Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)"
Click "Save"
Make sure to turn your protection back on when you finish.

7) SUPERAntiSpyware <<< turn this program off also, did I ask if you own SAS?

8) a-squared Anti-Malware <<< turn this off, do you own it?

9) SpywareGuard <<< right click the SG in System Tray to open the console, then click File > Exit. SG will be put back on reboot.

10) Follow the directions in this link to "Kill Process" on this program running:
C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#HTProcessManager

11) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to AVG Anti-Spyware Guard and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

12) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0F49A4BA-C9AC-460D-8184-E9A2F14F7ABB} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqRHaWPI.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [!AVG Anti-Spyware] "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exe" /minimized
O23 - Service: AVG Anti-Spyware Guard - GRISOFT s.r.o. - C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

13) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\ <<< delete that folder

14) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

15) I hesitate to run this program with all the others installed, please leave them off until this one has run:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

also post any information I requested, the results of the online trojan scan and feedback from you.

Thanks

Thanks for your help so far & sorry for another slow reply, I have been out of town with the work I do.

I have completed your instructions as follows:

1) I have installed Avira Antivirus from your list.

2) I could not access the site 'virusscan.jotti.org' when I first tried & so I carried on with the other instructions. When I tried again today the file you asked me to scan was gone, possibly removed by Malwarebytes ?

3) No I get no warning when PC turns off, its instant.
I have uninstalled some of the other spyware programs except - xoftspy (I paid for this do you want me to remove it ?), Spybot S&D & a-squared Anti-Malware, (these 2 have missing bin files) & Bazooka (missing install log)

4) I made files & folders visible.

5) I downloaded ATF.

6) WD turned off & is now back on.

7) I have uninstalled SAS. No I didnt own it.

8) I turned off a-squared Anti-Malware.

9) I exited SG.

10) I killed the AVG process via the bleepingcomputer link you posted.

11) I disabled AVG using Run - services.msc.

12) I did a scan with HijackThis & fixed the 4 items as requested.

13) I could not delete the Grisoft folder at this point (2 files that wouldnt delete were 'shellexecutehook.dll' & 'context.dll' & the warning said the files were in use or the disk was write protected which i think was b.s.) however I was able to delete them after the Malwarebytes scan.

14) I ran ATF cleaner & emptied all selected.

15) I downloaded & did a full scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, I have posted the log file below as well as a new HJT log.

I have had a problem with each of my file folders opening in a separate window & thought it was unrelated to my infected pc, however since completing these latest instructions, the folders are opening as they should, in the same window.

My computer is much faster now, my browser opens in a few seconds
whilst before it was taking 30 or 40 seconds to open.

It may be too early to determine whether it will turn off unexpectedly but so far it hasn't.

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. Your HJT log looks good, let's do this now.

1) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\ <<< delete the contents of that folder in RED
http://ict.cas.psu.edu/training/howto/util/removespybot.htm#1

2) Empty the Recycle Bin on the Desktop and restart the computer.

3) Clean infected System Restore files like this:

Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot

Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

4) Run a new Kaspsersky Online Scan (KOS) using these settings:

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here. <<< no need to post a clean scan results, just let me know. Tell me how the computer is running also.

Thanks

The only thing I should mention is my folders are opening in separate windows again... & I dont have that option checked, do you know why this is happening ?

I am not clear on what is happening, could you describe what you do and what is happening in detail, including where the "option" is unchecked. As much detail as possible please.

Thanks

When I want to browse a folder, in the past I have always been able to double click on the folder & it would open in the same window, however now when I do this or if I right click & choose 'explore' or 'open', the folder will open in a separate window. So if the item I am wanting to open is 5 folders deep I end up with 5 windows open. In the menu at the top of each folder under tools/folder options where it says browse folders, the option to 'open each folder in the same window' is selected... not 'open each folder in its own window'.
How do I make the folders open in the same window ?

Sounds like you are talking about Windows Explorer...try this:
Open MyComputer > Click Tools > Folder Options. Browser folders on the General Tab is probably the choice you want, but look under all tabs so you know what choices are there

Hope that helps

Don't think I can help you then, you might find an answer here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

if not you might be looking at a repair install or even a reinstallation of the Operating System.

Repair install:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=repair+installation+of+Windows+XP&spell=1

Reinstallation:

ok thanks, I have had a look on kelly's korner & haven't found a fix for my problem with windows explorer yet, but I will have another look when I have a bit more time this week & if I still cant find a solution I will take your advice & look at doing a repair install or even a reinstallation of the Operating System.

My computer is pretty much back to normal now, except the avira anti-virus programme picked up something called inf.autorun.se & it has come back a couple of times already. Hopefully its not going to give me problems.

Thanks again for your help, if I have any more problems do I start a new thread or post in this one ?

inf.autorun.se

autorun.se <<< perhaps it is this
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=autorun.se+&btnG=Search

can you provide more information than that?

Everything appears to be normal (except my problem with opening the folders) and also my pc turns off when I try to do a scan with spybot S&D & when I try to use kaspersky online scanner, which is a bit of a worry but all else is working fine.

Run your scan (avira anti-virus) post exactly what it is showing, word for word. See if there is a way to save the scan. Post that information and a new HJT log, I'll take one more look. We may have combofix take a look also.

If I don't see anything with that, I will suggest a couple of good Windows XP forums who may be able to help.

Thanks
