I hope someone can help me with this.
I have just bought another computer but my old when which i intend to sell has become infected with some kind of virus/trojan. After downloading some music, the computer suddenly started sending 100's of emails, all of an explicit nature, without me doing anything. I installed Spybot Search & Destroy which found several problems which Spybot supposeably fixed, but on restarting my computer the emails started again. The only way to stop the emails is to unplug the internet connection.
I did another search with Spybot which found the following; (BlueStreak), (DoubleClick), (Microsoft WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled), (Win32.Small.azl), (Win32.Tiny.abk). After doing a bit of research it seems the latter is the cause of the emails being sent.
I use Norton Internet Security 2008 which when i scan the computer does not even pick up any problems (why bother with it?). The simplest solution would be for me to formatt the hardrive, which would be ok apart from the 100's of photo's and video's i have of my son growing up. Am i safe to move these photo's and video's to my new computer then i can formatt the old computer, or would doing so infect my new computer, i.e can the virus/trojan hide in a Jpeg or video file?
Any help would be appreciated. As i am a newbie please accept my apologies for any errors.

Download and install TrendMicro HijackThis (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe)
* Once installed open HijackThis by clicking Start > Programs > HijackThis and click the button labeled
Do a system scan only
* Click the scan button in the lower left hand corner of the interface and HijackThis will quickly scan your system.
* Once the scan is complete the scan button will now read save log. Click this button to save the log file to your PC. Once you select where you would like to save the file it will open in your systems default text editor. Typically this application is Notepad. Post the log here.

Unfortunately, one or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.
This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files
I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.
Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. I think the safest method is to formatt my old computer and reinstall the operating system.
You mention using a "known clean computer" to change any banking/personal passwords. I have just installed spybot on my new computer which is just 4 weeks old. It found several "red items", most of which were tracking cookies, but one was "Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled". This alarmed me as this was one of the items on the old computer. I clicked fix the problems and all were fixed, but on restarting "Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled" was there again, this is a registry change. Any advice on this would be gratefully appreciated.

That finding is normal if you have Symantec antivirus product like Norton installed. :)
