Hi,

I just noticed that there is a folder in my C:Documents and Settings/All Users/Spybot S&D called Recovery and in there are a whole bunch of zipped files with all the malware that Spybot has removed. Can I delete these folders? Are these backups of the spyware and malware?

Thanks for any help.
Sandi

Sandi149:

A little more:

The Recovery folder holds backups of things fixed with Spybot (excluding minor items such as cookie). If you go into Spybot » Recovery you are able to back out of things that you fixed using Spybot .

If you no longer think that you have a need to use any of those files for backup purposes, go into Spybot » Recovery, highlight those items you no longer need and then click on the "Purge selected items" button.

First of all thanks, I was able to get rid ob more than 100 recovery files that I didn't know I have, all of them related to uninstalled software (years ago!)

So I also discover I still have (under /Logs) 237 files, almost all of them are checks.xxxx.log, checks.xxxx.txt and fixes.xxxx.txt, some dated as far as 2003 (yes, Spybot 1.2).
My question is: what is the best way to clean them?
Thanks
Becky

I know I can delete old logs by pressing the corresponding button, but I want to select the oldest, not all of them....
Sorry, but I still don't know how to edit my posts...

If you have 1.5.2,if you go to Mode->Advanced Mode->Tools->View report, then click Clean up old reports, you can select which logs you'd like to delete, then click the Clean up selected button.

To edit your post, you click the edit button, but I think there's still a 15 minute time limit.

Becky,

In Spybot, Advanced mode, goto Tools>View Report. Click on Clean up old reports. Checks and Fixes logs are listed with dates shown. Tick the ones you want to get rid of, then click "Clean up selected".

If you want to clean up old recovery files from old fixes, goto Restore, tick the boxes and then click on "Purge selected items". Note that you will not then be able to recover from any of these particular fixes.

Edit, sorry Zenobia, your post wasn't there when I started mine..
