I've run ewido and here is a fresh hjt log file. I'm still getting popups and a program named "UCmore" continually keeps reinstalling into my computer. I've gone into my control panel and removed it in that fashion and rebooted. I don't seem to be having any problems with that program anymore.

In addremove programs uninstall these programs if listed, always reboot when prompted.

Hi! Thanks for posting help. I think my computer has a long road ahead of it :( .

I have spybot 1.4 with detection update on 3/10/2006. I haven't run spybot since the update.

I've removed only one of the programs you listed in your last post (Quicklinks). As for the others, they weren't even on my add/remove programs list. There were some that I have already removed though.

To limit internet access should I just unplug my computer from the internet while I am away?

Download L2mfix (new version) from one of these two locations:

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe
Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.
Note:
If you receive while running option #1, an error similar to: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
Close the internet connection, Unplug your modem !! if on cable or satalite.
From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter. It will process then start. Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot.
Press any key to reboot. After the reboot notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

Ok. So I did the hosts thing. I think it worked. I didn't have any problems doing it. I looked into my drivers folder and the hosts file located in the "ETC" folder says it was modified on 3/9/06 which matches the latest version of the host file.

I also fixed those files with hijack this.

I ran the blacklite program. Here is the file when opened using notepad.

I'm having some problems following your last post. I downloaded the registry search tool, started it, pasted in 1B28149A38.sys the search, and clicked ok. It said it didn't find any registries, but did not open a wordpad document. I also couldn't find the file you wanted me to post on the website.

If the regsearch didnt find it there is no text, so thats a good thing

The file is there, check again .
Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files/extension's:
Open any folder, Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Apply to confirm. Click OK.

I've tried to manual delete all of the listed files. Here are the files that I was unable to find.

I noticed that there were other folders from other suspicious looking things. I wasn't sure if i should delete them manual or not. It includes files such as

as well as others.

I deleted those two files. I'll also post a fresh HJT log. I've run a scan with spybot and it hasn't picked anything up, but I still get infected files picked up when I do a scan using Ewido. I haven't been getting any pop-ups, but I want to make sure I don't have anymore malware on my computer. I also get the notification at startup that my virus protection is turned off. I still need help and I don't know what to do.

Hi

All those are in system restore, not to worry about them however if everything is running good now flush the old system restore points.

Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Then Reboot. < Dont skip that step.
Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
