Hey, this is my first virus so this is all sorta new, please have patience:)

I ran the spybot scan, and it detected virtumonde, and virtumonde.dll, although it let me fix the problems I scanned again just to make sure and the virus was still present. After doing some research on the virus, I was lead here where I read a post of a member being assisted; it was surprising how helpful the security guy was. I was originally going to follow the steps from the thread, but read a sticky which explained the danger in doing so. Thus, this thread came into existence.

Hi natediz

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

If you have problems with Combofix usage, see here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix)

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- combofix report

Just thought you should know, BM6368eadf (System Startup Global Entry) keeps trying to make a change on my computer (registry change I believe). I disabled TeaTimer and rebooted, since then SpyBot has not displayed any messages regarding this change.

I downloaded ComboFix from the first link and ran the .exe, the small loading box opened (says ComboFix with a green loading bar underneath), it finished loading, and then this error message appeared: Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation. I tried a few more times from the same link but the same error occured. The same error message was present when I tried to install SpyWareGuard, so I'm assuming the malware is affecting my ability to run any installer. When the error message came up, I pressed okay to close the error message, but the small loading box remained and I had to end process ComboFix.exe to remove it. I tried from the second and third link off of your post, but the save file button did not become functional (remained faded where as it usually becomes highlighted after a second or two). Seemed a little odd, so I went to the website you recommended and tried the links there, the save file button was functional this time, but the error message came up again upon running the .exe.

Sorry if I included some unnecessary information, I didn't want to leave anything out.

I did another HT scan just in case it's needed.
