View Full Version : Computer strange after "removal" of dll.32 malware

Hi guys,
As you can see, I am new to this forum.
I had a mondo32.dll malware moment on my Vista running laptop which was "remedied" by another Forum (various suggested steps were folllowed incl pre-scans, log posts and specific "fixit" programmes) 2 weeks ago, but during ther "fix" the "expert" seem to lose interest and has left me dangling with some strange computer behaviour; unexpected shutdowns of certain antispyware programmes inc AVG and Defender, total shutdowns etc.

Skype cant be installed though "lack of space" though there's 30GBs left in the C partition- little things like this make me think the problem is still there and getting worse.

1) S&D- in safemode came back "clear"
2) Kaspersky scan not possible to download for quite some time, and when finally done, not able to save the log to the desktop as Text as the message " for my computers safety the log is saved in temporary inetrent file"- on looking the file was empty/non-existent.

Please can someone let me know that all is not lost?

Hello nicoD, some quick information for you.

1) Vista is not my operating system, though I know malware. If issues do not pertain to malware, I may have to point you to help with your Operating System.

2) I see no Antivirus program installed, which is cyber-suicide anymore, please explain.

3) You HJT log looks strange, you have not used the whitelist feature to remove items have you?

4) Can't tell you about Skype, you might contact their tech support for help. I do need to know how much disk space you have, for now do this:
Open MyComputer > Point your mouse at Local Disk (C:) and right click then choose Properties > post how much used and free space you have.

5) Post any error messages you are receiving word for word.

6) Post a link to where you were getting help so I can see what they did.

7) Post the names of any programs you used besides what I will see at that link.

8) Add any comments you think will help.

Thanks for your response.
1) yeah I have AVG and a firewall in place...no suicides here...I just disabled them before the scan (I was told they can cause problems if still abled at scan time!?).
2) Skype problem googled and I am not the only one with this...its a Vista thing for sure as plenty of HD space (and a twice weekly defrag), so I will have to live with that for now and wait for SP2!!!
3) Nothing as far as I am aware has been altered with the white list with HJThis. I have ben asked to run combofix and a DSS.exe (Deckard/Deckers scan?) among other things. The link to the forum should provide you with the steps I have been taking -see 5.
4)Kaspersky scan now happening as we speak so will have a log to post soon-if I the laptop allows me to actually save it this time.
5) Will forward a link to the other forum also but as of yesterday, my case was "taken over" by another "malware expert" so fingers crossed they will finish what they started.

I will post the Kasp scan here in the meantime also. Would yu alos like me to repeat the Hijackthis scan also, if seems strange?

Thanks for the information, it looks like you are in good hands and resources that are needed badly are being wasted with both of us being involved. I am very familar with the Finnish experts and very good friend (mod here) is involved in the school there and several of our expert helpers are Finnish.
You may post a link to this topic so they may see my thoughts if you wish, and I will close this topic.
