• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

Lost my desktop

Ran my first S & D. Two items reported to have be renamed, and asked if I approve or deny. Didn't know what to do! Denied. Must have been wrong choice? My desk top is gone! I only got online because after running S&D I could access support from there.. I can't tell what I deleted that affected the desk top.
It means my BitDefender probably isn't engaged, and I can't shut down, and this isn't good, as we have some lightning.

Hello,

Restore the files you deleted with Spybot - Search & Destroy: Run Spybot - Search & Destroy, select 'Spybot - Search & Destroy' --> 'Recovery' from the left bar and restore all the files and entries, which are in association with the item that should be restored. For your problem, it is especially important to have the tools update installed. Here is the direct download link for the tools update.
After following these steps please try again. Be sure that all the Explorer windows are closed. Maybe you will have to restart your computer.

Best regards

please also read more information

on teatimer:

see these links:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/33.html

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/8.html

If you surf the web and without any user interaction the teatimer pops up and warns about a registry change it is better to "deny", but if you install something by yourself it is OK to "allow" the change.

If you find teatimer to be annoying or unhelpful, go into spybot, click mode-advanced mode. click yes. go to the tools button found on the left side. click resident. uncheck resident teatimer protection over all systems active. you will still be protected of bad downloads with the sd helper.

:) I hope that helps you :)
