View Full Version : Error During Check! Virtual Memory Low!

Addaceus
2008-06-12, 18:47
Drragostea has recommended that I try and get some help in the Malaware Forum.

Problem: When running a scan in spybot, it is extremely slow. During this slow process, my virtual memory warning flashes letting me know that is adjusting the memory. At the same time, the tower that houses the guts of my computer is making a lot of noise.

The scan takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete and when it does finish it produces a report that is around 50 pages long. Page after page of 'Error During Check"...........

Please help. I am not very computer saavy. The link below is my conversation with Drragostea. As well as my HJT log.

Hi

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post. in your reply

The logs look clean. Could you try to uninstall your current Spybot version and then download & install the latest one to see if it still gives that same error?

Some background info:

I have unstalled 2 times and re-installed before I ever posted in this forum. I continued to get the numerous pages of Error During Check problems.

Thus I found this forum to help me.

I installed Malawarebytes' Anti-Malaware after I found the Error During Check problems in Spybot the first run. Then I unstalled Spybot and re-installed and ran the scan again. Continued to get the Error Problem

I have items Quarantined that I don't know what to do with.

There are 15 instances of Adware.MyWebSearch and 1 instance of Adware.Coupons quaratined.

Should I remove them before I unstall the Spbot program again? Or should I leave the problems in the quarantine folder?

Again thanks Blade81,

Addaceus

Hi

You can delete those quarantined items too.

Hey Blade!

Sorry for the delay. Weather problems here in the south.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version of spybot. Ran the scan and again came up with numerous pages and entries of the following type of error message:

Error during check!: Winzix [15] (Access violation at address 006108C8 in module 'SpybotSD.exe'. Read of address 00000014)

or

Error during check!: Zlob.XpassGenerator [6] (Access violation at address 006108C8 in module 'SpybotSD.exe'. Read of address 00000004)

The scan takes a LONG time to start and finish. Taking up a lot of CPU time causing the virtual memory message to flash again.

I deleted the instances of adware in Malwarebyte as you suggested.

Thanks Blade for your time. Please help.

Hi Addaceus

Looks like this may be a problem with faulty memory chips. I recommend asking at http://forums.pcpitstop.com since we don't have hardware problems area here at S-N Forums. :)
