Whenever I opened the My Computer directory, it would take some time to process but instead of opening it would display "Windows explore encountered a problem and needs to close...sorry for the inconvenience"

I need help to clear this problem, Thank you very much.

Hi palo_dushii

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HJTInstall.exe
Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

yes, I have already uninstalled mcafee antivirus, & before I replied to you now I made a double check-mcafee antivirus is indeed already uninstalled which I did few days before I raised this issue.

One more thing I installed kaspersky antivirus after removing mcafee, and actually kaspersky as a prompt would recommend removing other antivirus otherwise it would not install.

Hi

Well then McAfee uninstallation failed because there are leftovers.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post.

However I was able to format the flash disk but drives G & H I can't find I was able to open "My computer" once to format drive E but when I came back to "My Computer" to Search for drives G & H it hanged but actually I cant figure out where these drives are, its not visible in the "My computer"

I tried command prompt. It already have this command "C:\Documents and Settings\KIM AND K-ANNE>", when I opened the present command cannot be replaced for the format command.

Hi

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Go to Start > Run
Type regedit and click OK.

On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.
Go up to "File > Export"
Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.
Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".
Under "Filename" put backup
Choose to save it to C:\ or in somewhere else safe location so that you will remember where you put it (don't put it on the Desktop!)
Click Save and then go to File > Exit.

Open Notepad and copy the contents of the following box to a new file.

Hi,

Yes I did follow removing those 5 items including the 2 mcafee items but those 2 items of mcafee seemed not able to be deleted. I believe they are one of those culprits.

then sc delete McShield and click ok
then sc stop McSysmon and click ok
then sc delete McSysmon and click ok

Reboot and post back a fresh HijackThis log, please.

Hi

Yes it does.

Please download regsearch.zip (http://www.xs4all.nl/~fstaal01/downloads/regsearch.zip) and save it to your desktop.
Right click on regsearch.zip and select Extract All....
Click Next on seeing the Welcome to the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard.
Click on the Browse button. Click on Desktop. Then click OK.
Once done, check (tick) the Show extracted files box and click Finish.
Double click on regsearch.exe to run it.
Copy and paste McShield under Enter search strings (case independent) and click OK... (boxed up in red in the screenshot below).

Click OK.
When done, RegSearch.txt will open. Please post the contents of this file in your next reply. This file can also be found on your desktop or wherever regsearch is extracted to.

Hi

Download Registrar Lite from here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download469.html) and install it.
Start Registrar Lite.
Type in to Address field this and click ok: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MCSHIELD
Right-click that key and choose Properties. Click "Take ownership".
Right-click that key again and choose Delete.
Repeat process for these key(s):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\McShield
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MCSHIELD
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\McShield

Normally I am deleting files by right click on the item, then from pulldown I click delete. If this is not a malware I think its alright.
