View Full Version : Websites don't load on my computer?

Suriki
2008-06-17, 21:39
Certain websites (such as Photobucket and MySpace) don't allow me to log in or upload things. If I let my computer sit for a few minutes, it goes to the Cannot Find Server page (similar to http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=13358)

I've tried everything; changed Firewall/Browser settings, deleted caches, uninstalled and installed programs, reinstalled different Firewalls, tried multiple Virus scans, etc.

Nothing has worked and my computer has been in this state for nearly a year. I Googled for help and this site came up. I hope someone can help me. I also have a cable modem (Comcast), if that means anything.

Following this post I will post my log file in multiple parts, seeing as how my condition won't allow me to post posts with too many characters.

Hi

Download
SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe)
and save it to your desktop. (If you can't download with this computer try to get it downloaded on some other one.)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the
following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the
Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press
Enter
.
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, double click the SDFix.exe file. Click Install in appearing window,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to
start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the
registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool
will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and
display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load
your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the
contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with
a new HijackThis log

Hi

You've now posted three logs and all in multiple parts. We've merged those.

Following this post I will post my log file in multiple parts, seeing as how my condition won't allow me to post posts with too many characters.
Could you please explain what you mean with this? What condition you're talking about?

Suriki
2008-06-19, 19:09
My internet. Posts with too many characters or are so long that they need a scrollbar don't load on my computer. It'll sit there for a few minutes (the bottom of the screen will say Waiting for _____) and the progress bar will slowly move up to about 30% and after some time it will go to the error page.

As I said in the first post, my internet is in bad shape; I can't log in to most websites and I can't upload anything. In fact, I tried attaching my logfile as an attachment but I couldn't upload it.

Hi

Ok. Thanks for the explanation. Let's see if following operations help to improve the connection.

Start hjt, do a system scan, check:
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Close browsers and fix checked.

Creating & executing batch file
-------------------------------

Open notepad and then copy and paste the bolded lines below into it. Go to File > save as and name the file fixes.bat, change the Save as type to all files and save it to your desktop. (If you are still unsure on how to do this there is a little tutorial with pictures here (http://www.nellie2.co.uk/file.htm#How_to_Make_a_.Bat_File))
@echo off
sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc

Double-click on fixes.bat file to execute it.

Show hidden files

When I try uploading the file as an attachment, it does the same thing. The bottom of the screen says Waiting for forums.spybot... and the progress bar goes nowhere. Then it took me to a Connection Was Reset (Mozilla Forefox) page.

Should I post them in multiple parts again?

Hi

Can't see anything else bad there. Is web browsing slow for you every time? Could you try alternative browser like Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/) to see if browsing works as slowly with it?

Suriki

I use Firefox currently. I used to use Internet Explorer, and I even tried Opera at one point. My internet isn't too slow, just that I can't do processes like logging in for some sites and uploading pictures and things. It always says "Waiting for ______..." at the bottom of the screen.

Hi

Do you use your connection to anything else while browsing?

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post. in your reply

Hi

Why your system restore isn't enabled? Please turn it on.

Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Show hidden files
-----------------
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Upload following file to http://virusscan.jotti.org and post back the results:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfman.exe

Delete following file if found:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\qxzewa.exe

and folder if found:
C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 2

Save text below as fix.reg on Notepad (save it as all files (*.*)) on the Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\KernelFaultCheck]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\SurfSideKick 2]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\zwxxrdczcoogl]

It should look like this -> http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/reg.gif

Doubleclick fix.reg, press Yes and ok.

(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here (http://www.nellie2.co.uk/file.htm#How_to_Make_a_.Reg_File_) with screenshots.)

Percentage of Memory in Use: 84%
Physical Memory (total/avail): 254.48 MiB / 39.45 MiB
You should buy more memory. Windows XP minimum is 256MB but when you have such heavy protection software like McAfee installed it's not enough. Also, it seems that your McAfee version is outdated according to the log.

C: is Fixed (NTFS) - 55.89 GiB total, 4.01 GiB free.
Your hard drive is probably fragmented too. Please run JkDefrag (http://www.kessels.com/Jkdefrag/) for it.

The *Turn Off System Restore* box was unchecked in the first place. Does this change anything?

Well, report told that it would be off:

-- System Restore --------------------------------------------------------------

Failed to create restore point; System Restore is disabled (service is not running).

Anyway, continue following the instructions after that part. :)

Okay, I followed the instructions except that C:\WINDOWS\System32\qxzewa.exe and C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 2 weren't found.

When I tried to upload C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfman.exe to that website, it did the same thing; loads for 5 minutes then goes to an error page.

As for memory, do I have to buy memory? Or would deleting and unistalling alot of stuff help?

I'm also currently running JkDefrag and updating my McAfee service.

Another question; my computer used to say every now and again that my computer has unrecognized system file versions. Does this mean I have to replace them? Is there a site/program for this? Or should I just use my Windows XP disk?

You need to buy more RAM memory. Among that it's recommended to free up some hard drive space too. You seem to have currently a bit over 4GB free of 55.89 GiB total.
