Spybot scan very slow.Zlob or no Zlob? [Archive]

I have a Compaq Presario AMD Athlon (™)XP computer bought in 2003.

When it became very slow I decided to do a complete system recovery with the discs I made when I got the computer.

Even after I did this Spybot took well over an hour to scan my computer, and spent most time with Virtumonde.dll and Zlob.Downloader.bs

Spybot then declared that there were no problems.

I do not know whether these are infections or evidence that Spybot is searching for these infections.

All checks with other virus scanners told me my computer was clean.

I have recently done a third system recovery and Spybot still takes nearly two hours to scan.

I also have AVG virus checker and all the Windows updates installed.

Unless these interfere with Spybot I am at a loss what to do next.

Let me say first that I see no evidence of malware in your HJT log. This does not mean it could not be there, HJT can only see so much. When symptoms are present even though HJT is clean, then we run other scans to feret out the junk.

I personally run Spybot S&D about once a month which takes around 30 minutes. I see no reason to run Spybot more that than unless I suspect a problem. Keep in mind my computer is clean, I have no excess files, I might be a bit newer than you but it does have 1.25 GB's of RAM. It is not unusual for Spybot to hestate a infections like CWS which have a lot a varieties. If you are up to date: 2008-06-18 and fully immunized: 72.174
then that is how many items you are protected from and that Spybot looks for during the scan.
