Hi,
I am a valued member tester for ad-aware but am also a spybot sd user.
I received the incompatibility message from spybot about ad-aware. Whilst, I disagree with the warning, this is something for the corporate discussions. I would just like to point out the obvious spelling mistake in your message.

Note
Ignore to now longer... which of course, should be Ignore to no longer...
Thanks,
Casey

The problem was already noted and coded for correction in a future release. See post #68 (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=203609&postcount=68) and post #69 (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=203610&postcount=69) in the following thread:
Spybot-S&D 1.6, beta 1
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=29109
And I remember someone here recently spoke with Lavasoft on how to avoid this issue, not sure where it lead to though.

The only incompatibility between Spybot & Lavasoft's Ad-Aware that I have ever encountered involves Spybot's IE tweaks (Advanced mode » Tools).
There are three "Miscellaneous locks" on Spybot's IE tweaks page:
Lock Hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers
Lock IE start page setting against user changes (current user)
Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)
If you check either/both of the following options (items 2 & 3), Lavasoft's Ad-Aware detects those restrictions that are placed in the registry as potential threats:
Lock IE start page setting against user changes (current user)
Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)
I have add both of those detections as exclusions in Lavasoft's Ad-Aware.

Hi guys,
thanks for getting back to me :) sorry about the duplicate then, i did do a search but didn't stumble upon your post.
I'm sure that there will be a way for them to work in harmony.
After all only the IE homepage lock and the hosts file editor (pro only) are available in ad-aware.
So if there were a way to get spybot to allow ad-aware to change these settings or for ad-aware to advise that they are locked by spybot.... actually it might be easier just to display the warning lol.
