I, like so many before me, have contracted Virtumonde on my computer. I have attempted to remove the threat with Spybot in normal and safe modes, to no avail. My log is below.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
This can be a tough infection to remove so do not expect fast or easy.
1) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)
A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
Remove any old copies of combofix before you proceed.
Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.
It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop
2) Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.

Save this as CFScript
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/CFScript.gif
Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe.
This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log. (wait until you finish to post logs)
4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.trymedia.com (HKLM)
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart and post the combofix log from CFScript, a new HJT log and some feedback from you. How is the computer running now?
Thanks

Everything seems fine. Runs even better than when I posted last. No odd pop-ups or BHO's activating randomly. Internet and computer faster and smoother. See any more problems?

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback, did you miss this junk? O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.trymedia.com (HKLM)
This is nasty adware, use HJT to remove it. If it does not remove we will have to clean the trusted zone.
Remove combofix from your computer like this:
Click START then RUN
Now type or copy Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z176/EPL47/CF_Cleanup.png
The rest of the HJT log looks OK. Why don't you update Symantec and run a system scan. Let me know about any issues you can resolve.
Then run MBAM:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.
How is the computer running?
Thanks
DarkEdge

I also told MBAM to delete the Vundo, but It looks like it didn't.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
Please run MBAM again to make sure it is clean OR you can navigate to this file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\clkcnt.txt and manually delete it. Make sure all files and folders are showing or you may not be able to see it:

Looks like TeaTimer memory is returning dead Vundo files to the HJT log. Sometimes we have to uninstall Spybot S&D to stop this, let's try this first.
(Make sure TT is disabled, if it is move to the next instruction)
We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes.
* Restart your computer.
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to the Desktop
http://downloads.subratam.org/ResetTeaTimer.bat
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat
to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F6FBCEE6-FB81-491D-8DE3-4D1739EF5511} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geBstrsr.dll (file missing)
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
Run Clean Manager
http://spyware-free.us/tutorials/cleanmgr/
Restart the computer and enabled TeaTimer, if those items are gone as they should be, then delete ResetTeaTimer.bat from your Desktop and give the computer a test run. Let me know how it is performing.

I believe MBAM quarantined the file, whereupon I deleted it. Just to be sure, I'm running another full scan. I think doing this has fixed problems my computer has had for quite some time. =) I'll post the MBAM log when it finishes. Thanks for your help.

That HJT log is clean, malware likes to mess with your antivirus software, I suggest you update NAV and run a system scan to make sure it is running properly. If you have any issues with the program contact:

If MBAM comes back clean and all is running as it should, I will wish you safe surfing:bigthumb:

MBAM is clean, everything appears as it should. I'll have to check my Norton's, but other than that everything's whistle-clean. Thanks for the help. =)
