When I scan with Spybot Seek n Destory, it comes up with a couple of the following messages, http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/2433/sderrorhe5.jpg

Does anyone know how I can get rid of these?

Also, what is some ways I can speed up the scanning of Spybot Seek and Destroy, it takes over an hour to scan my computer using it?

You are using a dated version of Spybot-SD. The latest version is 1.5.2.20. Version 1.6 will be released on Monday July 7th.

Version 1.5.2.20 improves scanning, speed, and stability compared to previous versions.

Be sure to uninstall Spybot first. Undo the immunization, and disable SDHELPER and TEATIMER before proceeding.

I updated the software, many thanks.

I have noticed it scans 170,305 different things. Is that the same for everyone?

I have noticed it has taken 1 hour and 20mins, is this normal? I do have a P4 2.4!

Will version 2.6 have a pause button?

Hello,

1. We have improved our detections and we have more and more threats that we detect every week.
We cover them with our weekly updates.

2. Our new version 1.6 will scan much faster. The scan will now take five to six minutes only, being about five times as fast as 1.5 was!
So if you like you can upgrade to our full version on monday (when it is released) or try the Release Candidate (http://www.spybotupdates.com/files/spybotsd160-rc1.exe) now.

3. There is already a pause button in Spybot 1.5.2.:

Please run Spybot - Search & Destroy and switch to the Advanced mode via the menu item Mode.
Now select 'Settings' - 'Settings' from the navigation bar on the left.
There scroll down to "Expert Settings" and activate the checkbox in front of "show expert buttons in result list".

Best regards

In addition to Sandra's post... Spybot does scan that much. Even faster in the next release.

Usual scan times for me and my aunt's PC is around 20-35 minutes.

Bell, clear all the cache, temp. files, and cookies for all your browsers. Defragment your drive and see it this improves the situation.

Scanning time since 1.6 has been installed is around 25mins. Does this sound about right for a P4 2.4Ghz CPU?

Under the older version I was once using it took around 1 hour and 20 mins.

There are several variables. Technically, the more files you have on your computer, the longer it takes to complete a scan, although I'm not sure if this applies to Spybot-SD because it does not scan files one at time, as it scans for common places of malware to "anchor" themselves.

Variable II: The amount of RAM and the GHz of your computer. More RAM means you'll be able to run more programs at a time. GHz mostly means the "calculations" the computer can process. If I'm correct I think it's around one million for each GH.

Variable III: The running programs; active or in the background.

Say like you have around 60 processes running and you run Spybot. Obviously it's going to take more time because so much processes are taking a bite in the computer's resources.

Julian, clear the cache, temp. files, and cookies from all your browsers.

Then run a disk defragmentation.
