Installation Error...

Hello.

I'm trying to install Spybot S & D 1.4 (had this same error before with 1.3) and I'm receiving the following error message:

Internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "localappdata"

I've googled for an answer and the only couple of links that I find are no longer valid pages.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I love Spybot S & D (it's a great utility), when I can get it installed.

Google again and click on the "Cached" version.

Unfortunately, if you are finding the same Net-Integration Forums references that I came up with, it does not appear that the issue was resolved.

This means that the registry value for LocalAppData is either incorrect or missing for the user you are logged in as.

The Registry Key this is stored in and the normal value it contains are:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

LocalAppData REG_EXPAND_SZ %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data
