View Full Version : new spybot
hi. have just installed v1.60.30. all appears to work fine but wondered if there is a way of turning off the 'hint of the day' please?
Not meant to hijack, as I believe this to be related...
Is there a way to bypass the "temporary file" deletion warning/default YES option... I would rather manage these myself!
Both things can be done through inofficial ways only currently:

Tweaks DisableHintOfTheDay and DisableTempFolderCleaning.
many tnx for info. will this be an included option soon?

Thanks...
I found it (somewhere)...
Made a reg file that does it for me:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Safer Networking Limited\Tweaks]
"DisableTempFolderCleaning"=dword:00000001
... and it works AOK!
That Registry tweak worked for me..
What other Registry tweaks are available for Spybot? The page referenced asks me to login to the spybot wiki to be able to view the page.. I can't seem to find a "register" new user for that wiki and thus unable to view the other Spybot wiki pages...
You should be able to login to the wiki section with your normal Spybot Forum login - at least that worked for me.

I tried to use the same normal Spybot Forum login and it didn't work for me. Said that there is no user by that name. :sad:

Thanks for the HU. I guess until such time a fix comes along, people with underscores in their user names won't be accessing the Wiki. Fortunately, I was able to piece together a reg file from a different thread to turn off the hint(s), which was my main goal.
