Hi There
My name is 'Raiders'. I have once posted a problem in the past and you guys (gals) were amazing. I was very appreciative for your help. I have re-read the "Before You Post" notice, so I hope I am following the rules properly. Finally, forgive my long message, I am trying to give you as much info as possible to help you assess the problem.
I seem to have a little problem and hope you can help again. A week or two ago, we started having problems accessing the internet using IE6. We could not at all. We discovered that we could temporaily close down our Kaspersky Internet Security System 7.0 (fully updated) allowed us to get to our home page.
I thought I had fixed the problem when I re-set the settings in the Virus Checker software and I could access the net (assistance from Kaspersky support via a Live Chat tool). However, on the web, we could not surf properly as we kept getting frozen every time we would click a link within a site or even an e-mail from within our web e-mail service.
I finally decided to un-install Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and then re-install. The problem is I cannot even re-install it now. Virus scans prior to uninstallation always seemed clean and SpyBot S&D always comes up clean (did one just before this post).
But my system seemed like it was infected when Kaspersky was on. It was freezing and needed system re-boots often. I suspected there was someting in the system start-up that kept causing Kaspersky to have problems? A worm or malware that is not getting caught?
Now when I try to install it again using original disk, it says there was an "error installing the software", could you please look at a HJT scan and see if you see an apparent problem with my system at all. I currently have no virus checker protection!
Note, I will be away from my system for a week staring Thursday, July 17. I hope to fix the issue before then. If we cannot fix this problem before then, I will re-post the issue upon my return.
