Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
This can be a tough infection to remove so do not expect fast or easy.

1) C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< return here and rename HJT.exe, call it emaxt.exe that will work. Hackers hide their junk from HJT and after a restart we may see the infection.

2) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

3) Remove any old copies of combofix before you proceed.

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.

Hi, thanks for replying. Here is the new HJT log after I renamed the file as you suggested. Since my original post I ran a couple of other freeware sypyware removal tools (Super antispy & Malwarebytes' Antimalware). Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards and many thanks for your help.

Hi pskelley

I'm unsure about whether I should run the combofix programme without first downloading and installing the Windows XP Recovery Console as stated in the instructions found under your link. Your first post says I should run combofix. Please confirm the correct course of action before I make a big mistake.

Thanks in advance

I am a little concerned about proceeding also. At the top of the forum are plainly the directions including this one:
Do NOT run 'FIXES' before helpers have analyzed the HJT log
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=16806

Since my original post I ran a couple of other freeware sypyware removal tools (Super antispy & Malwarebytes' Antimalware).I have your original HJT log to base my decisions on and expect that the directions have been followed. Even my second instruction to disable TeaTimer was not followed. I suggest you update your Antivirus program and run a system scan and delete or at least quarantine anything that is found. Then if you still have malware issues, post a new HJT log telling me what they are and if you can wait patiently until I can look at the log and make my suggestions, I will do just that.

Thanks

Hello

Sorry to have tried fixing the problem, but the lap top I have is the only computer I have, and being self-employed I'm dependent on it. I did deactivate TeaTimer as your instructions stated. I ran the virus check software again (AVG) - it found no problems. Attached below is the HJT log.

Thanks for returning your HJT log, please understand that I have no objections to you trying to fix your computer, please follow the direction here if you want help here. I will make a few suggestion and clean the junk being held by the TeaTimer memory and post information that may help you prevent future malware isses.

1) You are running SpywareGuard which does the same job as TT. I suggest you leave TT disabled, I run SG myself and I believe it will do the job for you.

2) SUPERAntiSpyware is a good program but it is a resource user. Unless you own it, you may want to consider uninstalling it.

3) O3 - Toolbar: ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker - {F0D4B239-DA4B-4daf-81E4-DFEE4931A4AA} - C:\Program Files\ZoneAlarmSB\bar\1.bin\SPYBLOCK.DLL
I would uninstall ZoneAlarmSB in Add Remove programs...optional but suggested.

http://www.benedelman.org/spyware/installations/askjeeves-banner/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3143

4) TeaTimer must be disabled!

5) Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to the Desktop
http://downloads.subratam.org/ResetTeaTimer.bat
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat
to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).

6) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Hi pskelley, many thanks for your prompt reply. I followed your instructions and visited the links.

1. TT is still disabled.
2. Thanks for your advice. I rather liked SuperAntispyware, but will consider your suggestion.
3. Thanks, interesting. I uninstalled Zone Alarm spy blocker as you suggested.
4. TT is disabled
5. Downloaded, saved ResetTeaTimer to the desktop as you suggested and executed the programme. A DOS window opened and I followed the instructions.
6. Downloaded and saved ATF Cleaner to the desktop.
7. Opened HJT and did System Scan Only – checked the entries as you suggested and executed the “Fix Checked” command.
8. Ran ATF from the desktop and followed the instructions.

Do I need to run HJT again and post you the log? Am I 'clean' now?

Regards emaxt

Thanks for the feedback, the tools I would have ran, likely combofix and MBAM with Kaspersky Online Scan if needed did not get run and I have not seen logs from SAS or MBAM but you have, were they clean, how is the computer running? There is nothing wrong with the tools you ran. HJT only showed the stuff being caused by TT memory (none of it was active malware) and the batch file should have cleared that stuff. If all is running well and the tools you ran said you were clean, then you probably are. As I said, HJT showed no malware. Update and run AVG 8 and see what it says .(run it myself on all of my computers)
