First off i had a nebula.trojan but got rid of that by using SmitfraudFix and thought everything was clear but i still get a popup when going into my computer. From what i know its caused by zlob but im not entirely sure on that.

Heres my log from combofix:

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.

Hello Steve, some good advice, you must read the directions before trying to work on a computer. Pinned (sticky) at the top of the forum are those directions, including this one:
Do NOT run 'FIXES' before helpers have analyzed the HJT log
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=16806

I will tell you there is a marker in the out of date HJT log you posted that indicates you are probably hacked by Ukrainian criminals.

Read the direction, post the correct HJT log and I will take a look.

Thanks

tgaskey

Ok i read both of those posts and i have a quick question. Do i need to run HJT in Safe Mode or in normal mode?

pskelley
2008-07-21, 02:23
Post all logs in normal mode unless I specifically request otherwise. Here are the instructions.

Download Trend Micro Hijack This™ to your Desktop
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/hijackthis/HJTInstall.exe
Doubleclick the HJTInstall.exe to start it.
By default it will install HijackThis in the Program Files\Trendmicro folder and create a desktop shortcut.
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

Thanks

Thanks, follow the directions carefully.

C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe <<< this program is dangerous enough without allowing it to run all of the time!
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=282
http://www.nutnworks.com/SafeHex/file_sharing.htm
http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/pest/pest.aspx?id=453088059

I need to get some information firs:

http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

Post only the C:\rapport.txt

Thanks

I didn't know i had limewire starting on windows start up. I changed it so that it doesn't now. I only use it for downloading and have it set so i don't upload anything so that its not illegal sharing. If i need to do anything else to it then please tell me.

Heres the rapport.txt:

Thanks for returning your report and the feedback. Smitfraudfix found nothing, remove it from your computer.

1) Thanks to LonnyBJones and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to yourDesktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log. (wait until you finsih to post logs and reports)

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) 5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Ok i followed everything exactly and i don't get the pop up anymore. I removed the stuff you said in HJT but the scan says its still there now after i finished all the steps. I don't know if its supposed to or not. Also when i did FixWareout it messed up my connection to the internet so i had to go in and double click on dnsbak.reg.

I'll tell you this, everytime I have run into those lines:
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{378510B8-4A4E-4C2F-9BFF-A23305D456D9}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
Ukrainian hackers had something to do with it. They somehow route through those numbers so we can't see the ones that research back to the Ukraine. Here is the tool we use:
http://www.whois.sc/ and searching for those numbers give us this:
http://whois.domaintools.com/208.67.220.220
These are some dangerous folks, have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Business_Network
http://rbnexploit.blogspot.com/

Get with Technical Support at your Internet Service Provider and ask them to help you reset those numbers. Explain to them the information I gave you, I am sure it will not be the first time they have run into this. Once you have that fixed, post to let me know.

Thanks
