Hi VectorVacumm

What kind of problems you have?

I recently reformatted my hard drive, although I've read this doesn't really completly remove nasty buggers. I'm not sure if reformatting affects the registry as well, but things were managable until I installed McAfee. I have the full program and I am paying w/subscription. After I did that things slowed down, but not alot, The clincher was when I installed the Adobe Reader. I've read some things about a virus that maks itself as the "adobe gamma reader". But since I have the reader installed I didn't think much of it. I would think with 4 gigs of ram my machine would at least run somewhat smoothly, but IE is quite slow, I have verizon DSL. Also my audio workstation, Cubase LE is not nearly as smooth as it used to be. I'm not sure if its the registry or what. I've run spybot, and ad-aware, Trend Micro House call, McAaffe, which never finds anything anyway, my system says I do not need to defragment. The only thing I haven't checked is the registry, for I do not have a registry cleaning program. I was hoping that you or someone else would see at least something in the HJT log. If you need any more info just let me know. Thank you SO very much for your time :)

Hi

Reformatting affectes registry, too.

You might consider removing these two from startup via HijackThis, they are not needed:

O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = D:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = D:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

I can also give you free alternatives for Adobe Reader (which are much more lightweight ones) if you like to :)
