All I get is a small SPYBOT box with the message.(see attachment) I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program AFTER I did a search to remove all traces of any old versions. I removed the conflicting programs (Adaware, Spywaregurad, SpywareBlaster). I deleted my cookies and Temp files. I uninstalled AVG and installed new virus program Avira. There is NO CHANGE.. it does the same thing as it did before I completed all those steps.

Any ideas?

The attachment may nothave attached...

First
Spywareblster and Spywareguard do not conflict however spyware guard duplicates- leave them off for now
did you install SD-Helper and T-Timer?

now AVG
what version did you remove 7.5 or 8?
whatever
you need To DO THIS with the AVG removal tool
http://www.pchell.com/virus/uninstallavg.shtml
remove antivir
also go to the Antivir website, find the antivir removal tool./ registry cleaner and run it- (not the antispyware remval tool)

If you machine has EVER had norton panda mcafee run the removal tools listed at bottom of PC Hell page
Conflicts between AV installations are a major headache

reinstall antivir or install AVAST- stay away from AVG 8 it seems to be a work in progress :)

this may fix your problem with spybot
if not try and update spybot and run in safe mode

post back
happy updating

Since my last post here is what I've done:

I followed the uninstall instructions as stated (the folder remained since the 3 items could not be removed).
I reinstalled the program from a different download location (PCWORLD)
and........Lo and Behold the program initiated and ran.

I checked for updates and it came back saying it was up to date.

I started a scan.

It froze up at about 1/4 of the way along. at this location:

Quote:
Running Bot Check 42741/175236 CashDeluxe

I closed out the program and an error message came up "This Program is Not Responding"

I restarted the program again and let it run overnight.
Same thing happened.

Did you end up with ANTIVIR- have you run a complete scan with all the option boxes checked- been about a year since I've run Antivir so check out the settings and options

run a spybot scan in safe mode
see if that completes

perhaps someone else will chime in here Monday

you might also try a malware bytes anti malware scan and see if that runs

did you mention what firewall you are running, anything else that might have tried to run or an autoupdate that might have interfered?

is your AV scheduled to run during the time of your spybot scan?

just brainstorming here

here's a current thread with some interesting info
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=27559

also do you have lots of memory?

I've worked for 3 days trying to get Spybot to run properly. I just started a scan and it crashed my system......that's the 4TH TIME! It's just too unstable and buggy for me to use...:spider: I'm uninstalling it!

Thanks for your help.
