I just finished installing S&D 1.5.2.20 on my Vista notebooik. My husband installed 1.5.2 previoulsly on his WinXP and now he is out of state but I was talking to him on the telephone. I tried to explain to him what I experienced when I installed the S&D and there seemed to be one difference. He said as far as he could remember, there was a screen near the end of the installation that said something like "Do you want to run S&D?"
I told him when I got to that screen, I believe there were two other questions mentioned there. Something like "Do you want to initialize....." I clicked all there of the boxes. The one for "Run S&D now" and the other two (I can't remember exact wording) that said something like, I think, "do you want to initialize...."
Did anyone install 1.5.2.20 recently? Do you remember what those two lines could have been?
Did I do wrong by checking them?
I hope not. (I could uninstall and reinstall again and see what those two lines were, and which my husband don't remember seeing when he installed the 1.5.2 some months ago.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Alice

the word was "immunize"
version 1.6 is out but for today let's get 1.5 tuned up
go to update, select a download site near you, update
when finished EXIT
go to immunize button on left
led it load
click immunize button at top
let it finish- there will be no done message you can see the progress
when it's done it's done
do your scan
report if it finds anything

sometime
if 2000-xp vista log in as administrator
download version 1.6- save to a file
un-immunize
go into mode>advanced> >tools>resident (top left)
and uncheck SDhelper and t-timer if checked
go to add remove programs and remove spybot
install 1.6 > update>immunize

Thank you. If/when I donwload and install S&D 1.6, will there be many differences than 1.5.2.20? Or will all the screens be the same?
Is there some place we can see the download instructions (including images) similar to what we found for installing 1.5?

Download and install are the same
the uninstall drill I gave above may not be necessary if you never had 1.3 or 1.4 on this computer
some knowledgeable techs say you can install 1.6 right over the top of 1.5
those installing over multiple old versions have some problems

screens are the same

Where did you find 1.5?
it should now be available only from the archives

get 1.6 here English
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

all languages
http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html

did you scan yet?

Just wanted to mention that the word was not "immunize," but the two lines I was talking about were:
"Install Security Center Integration"
"Activate Security Center Integration"

HI Tiger
on questions like that just copy(for example)
"Install Security Center Integration"
into the search box (dropdown middle top of this page)
I do not use it but evidently it allows windows security center to tell you if out of date etc

let me know what you find
