Want to get rid of C:\Microsoft.bat and Trojan horse Downloader.Agent.AIEW
I have AVG 8.0 installed. Recently whenever I connect internet and surf some sites in my C drive 3 files get generated automatically e.g. Microsoft.vbs, Microsoft.bat & Microsoft.pif. At the same time in my temporary internet files folder AVG detects infection of Trojan horse Downloader.Agent.AIEW. If I remove the threats by AVG, then also the thing comes again and again. I tried manual deletion of Microsoft.* files from c: but they keeps on getting generated. I made a clean installation of XP, but the same problem occurs. Pls help.

Hi deepak4490

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HJTInstall.exe
Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi

If you have version 1.5, right click the Spybot Icon in the system tray near the clock (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol).
Click once on Resident Protection, then right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
Go to Start > All Programs > Spybot - Search & Destroy > Spybot Search & Destroy.
Click on Mode > Advanced Mode. When it prompts you, click Yes.
On the left hand side, click on Tools.
Check (tick) this box if it is not yet ticked: Resident.
You will notice that Resident is now added under Tools. Click on Resident.
Uncheck (untick) this box: Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.
Exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Post:

- combofix report

Hi

Delete these:

D:\edrive\desktop\New Folder (3)\Globe7Setup_7.2.1.11.exe
D:\fdrive\Desktop\New Folder (3)\Globe7Setup_7.2.1.11.exe
H:\autorun.inf

Delete these if you don't have knowingly used them:

D:\edrive\Desktopnew\007[1].Spy.Software\
D:\edrive\Desktopnew\007[1].Spy.Software.rar

Empty Recycle Bin.

Still problems?

Deleted all the infected files and even i formatted my H:\ drive, but the Microsoft.vbs and Microsoft.bat files are still visible in the drive C:\

When i open internet explorer or firefox and surf the net , i see this "tongji.cn.yahoo.com" in the status bar.

What to do ?

Hi

Then more research is needed.

* Download GMER from
here (http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip):
Unzip it and start GMER.exe
Click the rootkit-tab and click scan.

Once done, click the Copy button.
This will copy the results to clipboard.
Paste the results in your next reply.

Hi

So do those files re-appear only if you are online after you have deleted them?

Have you used any USB stick meanwhile?
