Hi,
Please help me sort out whats going on inside my desktop or me (what ever).
When I try connect to internet on my desktop, Internet Explorer will not connect to home page (Google). When I check connection 'Status' the activity of both Sent & Recieved is just going up and up. Zone Alarm also pop up 'Security Alerts'.

I tried to install Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6. by downloading to laptop and installing on desktop PC but during installation it appears to need internet access to check for latest update. Which isnt available on my desktop at the moment.

I did run Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2 which returned 'No immediate threats were found'

My desktop is running with Windows XP Pro + SP2.

Attached below is HJT log.

Hi

Have you installed Windows updates lately and did the problem occur after it? Please see this (http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/pressReleases/2008/LossOfInternetAccessIssue.html) Zonealarm notification and do as instructed there.

Thank you for your advice. I had updated Windows and this was causing problems. However even removing the windows update, didn't resolve the problem. It did however allow me to up date ZoneAlarm and try with a clean install. I was still having problems and using task manager identified that 'vsmon.exe' was using 98% of CPU. From the internet I found 'vsmon.exe' was part of ZoneAlarm program and uninstalled ZoneAlarm. I replaced this with COMODO and did a scan and found two versions of Backdoor.Win32.Hupigon. Having removed these and continuing with COMODo seems to have sorted the problem.

Thanks again for the help. Keep up the excellent work. Derek
