Winfixer newbie

I am getting an occasional winfixer popup. I have ran vundofix but it found nothing. I have recently removed Vcodec sucessfully. I do not have SP2 installed as when I do install updates I can only start in safe mode ( but thats a problem for another time). I have recently removed macafee int security suite 2004 (with renewed subscription) as it was playing up, I have avg free, adaware ,SB S&D and recently installed idigicon internet protector and anonysurf.

ran pc trend online scan it found some vunerablities but no nasties.

There are no signs of winfixer in any of those logs :scratch:

Are you still having a problem? Does this occur on a certain website or something?

Can you describe what the popups look like (or better, get a screenshot of one if you can and attach to a reply here)

I have been watching your posts helping smokumchevy and looking for any similarities to my position.
The small popup telling me I have a security problem appears at the top of the screen I immediately hit Alt F4 until all the windows close this is before the download bar on one of the screens has completed, I don't know how to screen capture and I have not left the pages on my screen long enough to read them, I tend to Alt F4 anything that appears unexpectadly.
The popup appears about once a week and as far as I recall it has been on different sites I also immediately close the page it poppedup on.
Do you have to 'accept' the winfixer popup for it to install?
Will my lack of SP2 affect this, I guess my log tells you the security features I am running to protect my system, am I doing enough?
I am using an early Athlon 64 (2yrs old), XP Pro, and firefox.

Calamity Jane many thanks :bigthumb: for your response, I feel a lot happier as the searches and fixes your recommended to smokumchevy were not showing up on my system.
If your answers to my questions require no further action I will post a final log to maintain site ettiquette, and ask for this thread to be closed and allow you help others.
