I'm new so please be gentle.
I recently downloaded the latest version of spybot and put it on my works computers. It seems to work ok, BUT it's hijacked my shortcut / double clicking facility in Windows 2000.
Every time I double click a file to open it Spybot scans it. If I right click get at the top "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy". How do I
a) remove that from the shortcut menu or
b) move it down the priority list so when I double click the file it opens in the relevant program?

If you would like the feature still installed, try disable and then re-enable it and see of that puts the "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" option below the open. If that does not work, try to uninstall and reinstall Spybot. That worked for Un Claudio de la vida (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=44804) in this thread:

I deleted them from the registry, and it doesn't appear at the top of the shortcut menu anymore, which is what I wanted

i did investigate deleting from registry but that was not the answer for me.
In my case every time I double clicked Adobe Illustrator file it would scan the file (other file extensions worked fine).
I have windows 2000 but it will be similar for later operating systems. It has to do with setting the defaults for the file extension.
Open any folder
select 'Tools'/'Folder Options'
select 'File Types' tab
scroll the extensions until you find the one you're after and click to select it
You should see a button called 'Advanced'
Click it..
Under the heading 'Actions' you should see a command 'Open'..select it
You should also see a button marked 'Set Default'
Click 'Set Default'
This makes 'Open' the default action when you double click the file.
Now 'OK' 'Close' out of all that and go back to your folder.
Right click any file with that extension and you should now see 'Open' at the top of the option list.
the option "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" will have moved down one place.
