Hi all

I've been using S&D for years and never really had a problem before. I searched for this but there was only one result that didn't really cover it.

I'm using version 1.6.0.30 with current updates. Whenever I try to run a scan it freezes at: (120970/260181:Win32.Agent.frl). Task manager reports 55,224 K mem usage and 0 cpu. I've tried this twice in 'normal' mode and once in safe mode. The os is XP Service Pack 2. AMD Athlon - 2G memory.

Any ideas? Also ran a2free and adaware which only came up with tracking cookies. One week ago ran UBCD4Win and scanned with everything there and the box seemed squeaky clean.

Thanks

Hello,

If the scan hangs that does not mean that you are infected.
Did you delete all your temp files?
Do you have anything else opened during the scan?

Best regards

Hi - thanks Sandra

When Spybot started up it asked me if I wanted to delete the temp files and I answered yes. There is usually something open and running in the foreground and/or background.

hello,

did you upgrade Spybot S&D from an older version to 1.6 or did you install Spybot 1.6 to a different folder than a previous installation?
If that is the case please try this:

open the registry editor: click start - run - enter regedit - click ok
navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Safer Networking Limited\SpybotSND
check the data for the value path, it should point to your current Spybot S&D folder (by default: c:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\ )

Thank you - that seems to have been the problem. It was pointing to my UBCD4Win folder so I changed it to the 'Program Files' path and it ran through to the end: no infections.

Thanks again everyone and all the people who put out Spybot.
