We will begin with ComboFix. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.
The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.
Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
Please continue as follows:
Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)
Remember to re-enable them afterwards.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:
C:\ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log.
A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Aloha Shaba!
I followed your instructions as well as printed out the "how-to" on the Combo-fix and I believe there is a problem.:hair:
The only thing my screen is displaying is the following....fyi, I did not cut & paste the following, it was all manual. Please review and advise. Thank you!
Scanning for infected files...
This typically doesn't tke more than 10 minutes
However, scan times for badly infected machines may easily double
ComboFix has changed you clock settings.
Do not change it back. It shall be restored later
Deleting File Folders:
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\fad.sys"
"C:\WINDOWS\cookies.ini"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\mcrh.tmp"
"C:\WINDOWS\pskt.ini"

Completed Stage_5
Completed Stage_6
Completed Stage_7

Completed Stage_10
Please note that it stopped at stage 10 and I left the machine on even while I'm at work. It doesn't seem to be processing anymore and has not given me a message that the scan in done or that it was even preparing the log. I followed the how-to guide step by step and was hoping to post you a log today, but obviously that didn't happen. Thank you for your patience and your much needed help. Please advise on what to do now. Do I interupt? Did I just fry my computer? Help!
Aloha,
Pueo_girl
No, I don't think so.
Please try to re-run combofix in safe mode :)

Thanks for informing me :)

No problem :)
Looks like TeaTimer has brought back some entries.
We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to the Desktop
http://downloads.subratam.org/ResetTeaTimer.bat
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).
Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [a0583159] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\System32\bxkyeboh.dll",b
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMa36b02c5] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\System32\nnqvum

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.
Reboot.
Post back a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi Shaba!
Looks like we're getting down to business for sure! I was noticing that TeaTimer kept bringing the same ones up. I will get this done as soon I get home today and post you a new log tonight. You've been so patient and awesome:bigthumb:, I can't thank you enough!
Aloha,

Looks pretty good but we need to check one file next :)
Please click this link-->Jotti (http://virusscan.jotti.org/)
Copy/paste file on the list into the white Upload a file box and click Submit/Send (depends on which one you are using Jotti or VirusTotal).
C:\Program Files\Gamevance\gamevance32.exe
Please post back the results of the scan in your next post.
If Jotti is busy, try the same at Virustotal: http://www.virustotal.com/

Aloha Shaba,
Here's the results of the Virus Total scan. Jotti was busy so I followed the link to the Virus Total site. I didn't know how you wanted me to attach the results to the post, so I just "selected all" and did the copy/paste thing into the reply. Let me know if you need me to do this another way.
Mahalo,

That is fine :)
Do you recognize this folder?
C:\Program Files\Gamevance

Hi Shaba!
Yes I do! I've been kinda suspecting it for a while and I've seen this file consistently in all the scans we've been doing. What do I need to do now? Is it as simple as uninstalling it or deleting it? Would it be advisable to find a download for the Service Pack 2 for my computer after we clean it out? Where do I get it? Thanks for the quick reply!
Aloha,
Pueo_girl :)
"What do I need to do now? Is it as simple as uninstalling it or deleting it?"
Yes :)
Empty also this folder:
C:\QooBox\Quarantine\
Empty Recycle Bin.
"Would it be advisable to find a download for the Service Pack 2 for my computer after we clean it out? Where do I get it? "
I give you link in a bit :)
All other viruses are in system restore and inactive.
I give you later instructions how to empty it.
Other than that, any problems left?

Hi Shaba!
I did as you said re: uninstalling & deleting the Gamevance file as well as the Qoo box file, & emptied them out.
Everything is running fine!:bigthumb:
The only things I can add to this is that I believe the viruses had something to do with my Firefox application crashing. During all this, I downloaded the new version of Firefox and when it came to the final step s to running it, I would have a dialog box saying that something or other caused Firefox to crash and I should try again later. Do I now retry to install it now? What about my IE, is that safe to try and use? At the moment, the only way I have been able to get to the net is through Flock. Is this okay?
Let me now what you advise on that topic and I guess maybe the link SP2. I am also worried about the restore point with the inactive viruses. I'll be up for a while to check on new posts. Thank you so very much for all that you've done and I sincerely appreciate your time!
Yes, please try re-install Firefox now :)
If you get any error message(s), let me know.
IE is OK to use as well as Flock.

Hi Shaba,
I installed Firefox without a hitch! I notice the subtle differences in this new version. Any quick tip on clearing the tags in the search bar? There's a star and a drop down arrow to the very right of the bar and I saw some of my bookmarks like Gamevance and the Spybot forum etc.... I deleted the Gamevance bookmark for sure but don't know how to remove or clear the tags there.
Let me know if there is anything else I need to do in my system and I'll reply as soon as possible. Thank you again!
Mahalo,
Pueo_girl:)

That is new feature in 3.x version :) So it marks all your bookmarks with star when you type address.
Any other things or are you ready for final instructions?

Hi Shaba!
Thanks for clarification and I am soooo ready for the final tasks !
This has definitely been an experience for me and I am so grateful for all that you've done!
I have inherited a laptop and of course it has virus problems (of course), which may be why I got it. I never look a gift horse in the mouth though! After going through all this I'm sure it can be remedied as well. That system has a bit more going on though. Would it be possible to send you a private message regarding that laptop in hopes of getting a referral to either another forum for help or if you could help with it?
Look forward to the reply!

I think that it would be best to start a new thread for laptop.

Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com (http://www.windowsupdate.com) regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
Install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a new and powerful anti-malware tool. It is
totally free but for real-time protection you will have to pay a small one-time fee. Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found below:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Setup Guide (http://www.bfccomputers.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1644)
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Scanning Guide (http://www.bfccomputers.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1645)
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html)
Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
Here are some additional utilities that will enhance your safety
MVPS Hosts file (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm) <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
Winpatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/) <= Download and install the free version of Winpatrol. a tutorial for this product is located here:
Using Winpatrol to protect your computer from malicious software (http://www.winpatrol.com/features.html)
Stand Up and Be Counted ---> Malware Complaints (http://www.malwarecomplaints.info/index.php) <--- where you can make difference!
The site offers people who have been (or are) victims of malware the opportunity to document their story and, in that way, launch a complaint against the malware and the makers of the malware.
