I upgraded to 1.6 last night and now I get logged out immediately after logging in. I can't log in with safe mode either. Windows XP Pro SP3.

I've been trying and have been unable to access the registry with regedit or regedt32. I'm not able to login to the machine to execute those commands. I've tried using the rescue disk and some third party utility software with no success. So, I guess I'm going to have to reinstall the OS, all of the XP updates and service packs and all of the applications again. I am not a happy person right now.

Hello,

Did you shutdown the pc completely and made a fresh reboot?
Did you fix anything in a Spybot scan?

Best regards

I have the same problem.
I upgraded to 1.6 and now the system present sthe standard windows logein. I enter my username and password. The system starts to start up and then immediately starts to log back out and returns me to my log in screen.
I have tried to use Ultimate boot cd to edit the registry but without clear directions from SPYBOT forum users I would rather not make things worse.
Please look into this and let us know. It appears that this is a prevalent issue.
I noted some info on userinit.exe on other forums but have not found any suggestions to solve the problem.
Please help.
I can probably fix this IF I can edit the registry in DOS mode.
Win XP Recovery has not worked.
