Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=27450 <<< the last time you posted here you never bothered responding to your helper? You do understand these volunteers give up their time to review the information you post and respond to you.

1) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

2) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Thanks

First, I'd like to apologize for not responding back to the volunteer who tried to help me last time. Secondly, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to help me out with this current problem.

Okay, I completed every step as you requested in your response. I haven't gotten any pop-up's since running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, but I know we're still not done. So, here's Malwarebytes' log & the new HJT log:

My first instruction was to disable TeaTimer and (leave it disabled until we finish) yet TT is runing in the HJT log you just posted?

C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpybotSD TeaTimer] C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe

1) Read the directions and disable TeaTimer until we are finished

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} -

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Post a new HJT log and let me know how the computer is running.

Thanks

I disabled Tea Timer as you requested. I'm not sure why or how it showed up in the log. I might have restarted the computer, but I never did go back into the Spybot control center & activate Tea Timer.

Anyway, the laptop I am getting your help with is my Dad's & he keeps it at work. I won't be at work today to get into his computer, so I can't run the programs you've told me to run. I will be up there tomorrow (8-17-08), & I'll do as you requested as soon as I get there.

Once again, I appreciate all your help!

Your welcome & thank you! He can only do so much (like check his mail) when it comes to computers! lol!! Well, it seems my post didn't post yesterday, so I am trying it again today. I ran another HJT scan just in case that didn't work either. Oh! And the computer is running great! Thank you SO much!!

I am not seeing any antivirus program running on the computer? If you need a good free one, here are three to choose from (install ONLY one)
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
http://www.free-av.com/

I personally run AVG 8 free on my computers, if you decide to use that one, have a look at this tutorial:
How to Install Free version AVG 8.0 without LinkScanner feature
http://russelltexas.com/tutorials/avg8install.htm

When you get an antivirus program installed, update it and run a complete system scan, let me know that all is well and I'll post some great information to keep it that way before closing your topic.

Thanks...Phil

I've used AVG before & liked it at first, but after a while it started acting kinda weird. I can't remember which versions I've downloaded, but I haven't tried this new one. I've always heard this is the best anti-virus program to have. Actually, I just downloaded it on my laptop just a few minutes ago. I like the new layout. I hope it works better than it's previous versions! I'll download it on my Dad's computer tomorrow & run a scan. I bet it won't find anything 'cause you did such a wonderful job fixing everything! Oh! My Dad wanted me to tell you he appreciated all of your help.

Well, you & yours have a GREAT evening & I will be back tomorrow with a good report!

Thanks Again!

Well....I think I spoke too soon! I'm just now running an AVG complete scan on my Dad's computer & it found this : "Trojan horse downloader.Generic 7.AERW." AVG found it in here: "C:\Documents&Settings".

It's not done scanning yet, but I just wanted to let you know ahead of time. Do I need to run HJT again? Please let me know!

Thanks!

Did you ask AVG 8 to quarantine or delete that item? When you finish you will be given an opportunity to save the report at the bottom. Post that report for me to see.

Thanks

I'm not sure what AVG did with the Trojan. It might be quarantined.

Thanks for posting your information, you can see some nasty tracking cookies are getting on the computer, if you take the time to read this information you can control what cookies can get installed:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/cookies.htm
Here's hoping you deleted all of that junk.

C:\Documents and Settings\Gary Sanders\My Documents\setup_110065_3_.exe <<< this item was:
Moved to Virus Vault. Right click the AVG icon in the System Tray and click Open AVG User Interface.
Once open, look to the top for History, click that then click Virus Vault. Now you know the five things you can do with stuff sent to the Virus Vault.
