Hi All
I have the same problem a lot of people seem to be getting, i.e. the fake XP security centre.
I dont know where it came from but I've got it. I downloaded Spybot and HJT from this website but I cant run either of them, although tea timer is running and catching any registry changes.
I've tried booting into safe mode but I cant get past the password entry which doesn't accept the correct password which is OK in a normal boot.
I've had this for a few days now and it is getting a bit wearing now. This is my work computer and I dont want to send any e-mails without purgeing the system first so you can probably guess I'm not best pleased.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One thing, I did manage to boot into safe mode after creating a new user and was able to run Adaware 8 which found the XP Security centre in the registry, along with a lot of other stuff, which I removed, however, when I rebooted it was there again.
