Spybot won't install...

Hi all,

Small problem. I've downloaded Spybot, latest version, and now when I try to install, it hangs on the setup screen that says, gathering file information. I installed on my laptop with no problems, but my desktop is having issues. Both are networked together.

I believe I have some malware on board since I'm trying to download spysweeper, which I've purchased awhile back, and everytime I search for spysweeper using it as two words, my browser closes. Weird.

Anyway, I'm using Vista with the pre-installed McAfee.

Any suggestions?

try this:

1.) Make sure all versions of spybot are uninstalled.

2.) Then Right click the installer file and run as administrator.

3.) Then make sure download updates immediately is unchecked during the installation process.

Try that and let me know if that helps :)

Thanks for the install tip. Installed with no problem after unchecking the update immediately box.

However, when I try to update now, it hangs on the update dialog box and then goes into (not responding) mode. Any more suggestions?

make sure your firewall allows spybot to access the internet. Also make sure your internet is working correctly.
