Hi,

I'm having trouble with ad.yieldmanager only when browsing links from yahoo's domain. I'm not experiencing pop-ups, rather after clicking a link my internet history shows a couple of entries for "ad.yieldmanager.com/st?ad_type=i"

This prevents me from being able to return to my previous pages using my back button. I'll have to click multiple times to get back to where I want to be.

I've updated Spybot and Ad-aware and run both in normal and safe mode without much success. I should note that I'm using safe mode with network support because when I try to boot into safe mode w/o network support, I cannot logon due to being a part of a domain. I do not want to switch off of the domain to a workgroup unless someone is guiding me through it. I was warned to remember my password "pre-domain" however I'm 95% sure i never had a password and do not remember the username i used to log on.

Anyhow, following is my HJT log. Any help is appreciated.

Hi

One of the best ways to avoid ad.yieldmanager is to use MVPS hosts file (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm).

Anyway, let's clean your log a bit and update a couple of programs.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

Updating Java:

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp).
Scroll down to where it says
The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

Click the
Download
button to the right.
Select Windows on platform combobox and check the box that says:
Accept License Agreement. Click continue.

The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Uninstall old Adobe Reader version(s) and get the latest one here (http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_reader/)

Start hjt, do a system scan, check:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {731BA9CE-E876-4905-B96F-4C0C1490003E} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8dad5dee-bf4f-4ad6-ae91-941a4e53ff27} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CE59A613-D9BC-4CDA-B5E8-F3776A1F81AE} - (no file)

Close browsers and fix checked.

Then let's clean some temporary stuff.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

Under Main choose:
Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Cookies
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache
*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

If you use Opera:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Reboot and post a fresh hjt log. How's the system running?
