The installer attempts to go to:89.238.64.39 to get file uddallocator.php (1 of 1)
I get the following error: A connection with the server could not be established.

If I ping the server I get a timeout notice immediately. However, I can enter the server in the browser where the result is http://89.238.64.39/en/home/index.html

This happens even after disabling my firewall.

Would it be possible to download that file outside of the installer?

Hello,

During the installation Spybot tries to download the updates.
You can disable this function in the wizard itself.
Just untick the checkbox in front of "download updates during installation".
The updates can be downloaded later on.

For more information on updating please have a look at this link on our website:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/update.html
You can also download the updates manually:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
Here is the direct download link (http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe).
Just download and run that file - it is self-installing.

Best regards

Just on a lark I decided to open the firewall (Comodo) and add the installer to the safe list. Doing that worked.

I can't understand why the update did not work with the firewall turned off?

Is there a way to disable the autoupdater during install. Iam trying to remotely install the program and the updater times out about 10-20% of the time. I would like to disable the updater during the install and run the update seperately

Rich123:

When you get to the "Select Components" screen during the installation, uncheck "Download updates immediately" (see attachment).

Rich123:

I'm sorry, I assumed that you were logging on "remotely".

See:
Are there any command line parameters?
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/30.html

And here is a list of command line parameters that the Spybot-S&D installer (spybotsd16.exe) supports:
...
/components="comma separated list of component names"
Installs the given components instead of the default ones. Supported components are

...
updatedl (for downloading updates as part of the installation),
... ...
I assume (I have no way to test) that if you add the following parameter to the installation command that the attempt to update during the installation will be skipped (the "!" in front of the "updatedl" means "not"):
/components="!updatedl"
