View Full Version : 2 Virus in PC and MSN Virus, related? Help!

OK, this is the thing. Yesterday someone told me that I had an MSN Virus cause "I" was senting some file "photo.zip" that had a virus. Of course, it wasn't me. So after that I changed my password.
The Next day (Today) a box came when starting Windows saying like McAfee couldn't start or something like that. I dont have McAfee installed in my pc so this is very weird (I do have their Site Advisor).
So I decided to do a HT Scan and 2 things appeared that I've never seen in my life...

are the files infected. How do I know? I scanned both with Virus Total and BOTH got 28/36 infected...

I really don't know if this 2 are related (MSN and this 2 virus) but Im sure as hell that those 2 are related anyways.

If anyone can help me would be really awesome cause I know you guys can give a great service as you guys helped me remove a Virtumonde on my Vista...

How to see hidden files in Windows Vista (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial130.html)

Go to Start > Control Panel > Click on Classic View
Double click on the Folder Options icon > Click on the View tab
Untick the following:
Hide extensions for known file types
Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
You will get a message warning you about showing protected operating system files, click Yes
Make sure this option is selected:
Show hidden files and folders
Click Apply and then click OK

Right click on the HijackThis icon, from the menu options choose Run as administrator.
Click on Do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines (if still present).

Then close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart

Use Windows Explorer to find and delete these files:

C:\Users\Owner\bicseuj.exe
C:\Windows\system32\dnk.exe

As an example:
To delete C:\WINDOWS\badfile.dll
Click on the Start button and then on Computer. Or click on the Windows KEY + E.
Double click on Local Disc (C:\)
Double click on the Windows folder,
Right click on badfile.dll and then from the menu that appears, click on Delete
Click Yes when you are asked Are you sure you want to move this file to the recycle bin?.
Depending upon the location of the file, you may receive a Destination Folder Access Denied prompt. If you do, then click Continue.
You may also receive a User Account Control prompt. If you do, then click Continue.


Finally, run again HijackThis as administrator, create new log and post it back here, also a description of any remaining problems.

Updating Java:

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp).
Scroll down to where it says "The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.


As for the siteadvisor problem, I suggest that you try uninstalling siteadvisor and then reinstalling it. Let me know if that works.
