hello spybot experts and thank you in advance for helping me, lately my explorer has started going to 99% cpu usage and sometimes system restarts for no reason, I have downloaded spybot s&d and after a scan it found several malware virtumode included, it said it removed all but the problems persisted so I scaned again and virtumonde was found yet again. I restarted in safe mode and scaned there, found virtumonde, removed it , scaned afterwards, it found virtumonde again so I came here hoping that you will be able to help be get rid of it.

this is the hjt log:

Update Your Windows XP.
You are currently using an unpatched version of Windows XP.
Before attempting to remove malware, it is CRITICAL that you update to Service Pack 1a.
Get SP1a here : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx
You should also get SP2, but NOT NOW, rather only after your machine is clean.
After updating your Windows to SP1a, post a new HijackThis log please, using the Post Reply button. If you are unable to do this for whatever reason, I will do you a favor and tell you that you have bad infections including this trojan:
svehost.exe >>> http://www.castlecops.com/startuplist-15211.html

If the computer is used for any reason that required security, my suggestion would be to pull the plug.

Thanks

Hello pskelley and thank you for your response. I tried to update to windows sp1a and I got an error saying my product code is invalid, probably because the windows cd I used was not with license, I have a licensed windows now but I didn't have time to sort my c partition to format it so I could install this version, if you know a way that I could uninstall my unofficial windows and install my licensed one without formatting the partition please help me in doing so.

The only suggestion I can make is to request help from Microsoft:

Thanks

I formatted the partition and installed the licensed version. since I formatted the partition with windows and where all my programs were installed means I got rid of any problems right?
