S&D Ver 1.6.0.30 auto update issue

I have three computers running Windows Vista and the latested version of S&D 1.6.0.30. In the advanced settings I selected the option to automatically update the application everytime the program is opened. I also have S&D to set to run on a schedule every week. However, I've noticed that the definitions are not being updated. If I open the program and choose to automatically update it, nothing happens.

To update the definitions I have to uncheck the option for automatic updates and then manually click on updates. Is there a fix for this?

Spybot-Search&Destroy definition updates are released every Wednesday, so if you've updated yesterday (say like that was when you installed Spybot on Vista), then you would not see updates for today.

Program updates are released every few months or so.
